went out of Triple S Marina last weekend on Fishin' Warriors(33 foot Grady w/ twin 250's).... caught 17 mahi and a 60 lbs yellow fin. The seas were brutal, 10 foot seas with a 4 sec period. we took a few waves over the bow!

Fishing was hard today. Ran to the point, (~30 Miles) then ran to the 280 Rocks almost another 30 miles. Caught 5 Gaffers and 4 Yellerfins late in the day. Had a blast.

canoed and fished the Cape Fear this weekend. The catfish were killing it since the river is so low. Saw several people pulling in 20+ in catfish including this one guy who caught two while i was drifting by. Bass were also hitting as well

Caught a good sized bass and crappie last weekend on lake anne. Caught 'em right before the rain started Sat evening.

Memorial day sight casted for cobia outside Beaufort Inlet. 3 hookups, 2 on 50 lb class fish, one on a ~15 lb fish. Only the smaller one was landed. The last one we sighted wouldn't bite, despite us throwing bucktails, live eels, croakers, and pinfish in front of it's face for 20 minutes.

Went to Hatteras this past weekend. Did some trolling near the point, and some more sight casting, and some bottom fishing. No successes.

Same here. You can't easily trailer it, and I'm not prepared to put one in a slip somewhere on the coast full-time.

Plus, it'd be hard to work on it.

But yeah, 6k for a boat like that is an amazing deal. Getting it here would just cost 3k is the problem. Heh.

I'm pretty much set on either a 23' or 25' carolina skiff DLV

I don't go way offshore that often.. mostly troll nearshore and play in the sound and lakes...

That was probably your problem. Don't throw directly at a Cobia, always away from it.


^^^&^^, It's most likely that cheap because a) It runs gas and only 150 gallons of fuel on board and b) it probably doesn't do more than 20 kts WOT.

Hey guys. I am going to Anna Maria Island (near Tampa Bay) this week for about two weeks. I am taking my boat (21 CC) down and the house I am renting has a dock on it. I plan on doing a mix of inshore (with my fly rod) and offshore (conventional) fishing. Has any one fished there before, and if so do you have any pointers, places to go, avoid etc.... Also this will be the first time I will be salt-water fly-fishing. Any advice. I have not bought any flies yet. Do you guys/gals have any suggestions? Appreciate the advice. Oh, my boat has not t-top (for the fly fishing) has two rod holders on the back two movable rod holders and one down rigger. With that set up, what type off shore stuff should I target. Don’t want to go to far out (max: 20 miles). The only species I have targeted in the past has been Kingfish and from what I have been reading Kingfish are rare this time of year.

my grandparents used to live on anna maria island, i used to go fishing in the bay off their pontoon as well as fishing off the smaller of the 2 piers, Rod & Reel Pier vs city pier. Caught alot of snook and spanish mackerel in the bay. Cut off many stingrays. Never tried for tarpon in the bay. It's been about 10 yrs since I've done this though.

The bill fish bite was hot on Saturday. There was even a report of a Hatchet marlin being caught. At least some people got to fish.

yeah, some dude was on the radio talking about having a grander, but apparently he was way off or lost him...

there was a ton of mahi at the weed line but no one was getting bites on them after about 9 or so



it was so fucking cool to see three fish hit the spread at once... probably why we lost all three
