many didn't like it... but the walk down through the crowd is money. can you imagine having a top 10 team and strollin' through the stands like that?
then the build up downstairs, smoke, fireworks... Bodies 6/13/2007 6:10:02 PM |

I like the players coming down through the stands. They are right there shaking hands with the fans and everything. Getting pats on the back by the drunk redneck saying, "WHOOOOO....let's go boys, kick some ass out there, stick em' and shit!" He's the same guy that whenever he's on the white side of the RED...WHITE chant, adds a little twang to it, like how white supremacist yell white power.
Nah, but seriously, it just seems more personal. I think that's why Clemson's entrance is so great. The fans are right there. They're pumping up the players, and the players are pumping the fans up. They both feed off each others energy.
Where's my guy putting the players pics and their bios up as their number correlates to the countdown day? He's falling down on his job. I know I started doing it back on one of the previous years countdown threads, but now I'm working and don't get to stay on here all day like when I was in college.

The walking through the crowd thing should stay, it's unique and could be a tradition if kept up long enough and backing it up with some wins. 6/13/2007 7:27:21 PM |

I thought the idea of coming down through the stands was good, but the entrance always seemed anti-climactic for some reason. The crowd died after getting initially pumped up. Maybe a different song? Or doing starting lineups at a different point? 6/13/2007 8:35:05 PM |

problem is it was awkwardly long, VT's is good because its a short buildup. Id like to see a good buildup rock song and possibly have the video board following the players walking to the front of the tunnel. Only use a portion of the song, not the whole thing. The beginning of Korn-Blind could work or hell, bring back Bodies 6/14/2007 12:08:03 AM |

It "seemed" wrong because we were a losing team.

Maybe if they did the starting lineups during the music playing/walk down (I can't remember if they did that, but seems like it was after they got to the tunnel). Something needs to be shortened in there if they keep the walk. It would also be good if the entrance song was something that got loud/pumped up very early on. 6/14/2007 8:48:31 AM |

O'Brien Meets The Media
Quote : | "At tailback, juniors Toney Baker and Andre Brown are also shown as co-starters. While both players will be pushed by redshirt sophomore Jamelle Eugene, O’Brien put all his ball-carriers on notice that coughing up the ball will not be tolerated.
“There’s no excuse for fumbling the football,” O’Brien said, “and we don’t accept any excuse for fumbling the football.”
The Pack has been dogged by losing the turnover battle in recent years, and O’Brien highlighted the importance of ball security. He followed the advice of mentor and former Virginia coach George Welsh by installing a defensive drill geared toward enhancing the fundamentals of both protecting and stripping the football.
“Coach Welsh always said, ‘If you want to accomplish something, make a drill for it,’” said O’Brien." |

76 days till gameday! We should take over the capital building and annex it for our political science program. it's not like the state government wouldn't like a new larger building located in Chapel Hill anyways. it's a beautiful building and would add some beauty to the campus since others say we need it.

Often imitated yet never duplicated. This has been a TWW tradition for years. TWW is where the original countdown to the start of State Football began. Man I remember that VT thread a couple years ago. That thing had an insane view count as well as pages. For some reason we were crazy for the season to start. I guess b/c we all thought that the state of State Football would return to where it had been the years before the 2004 season, and that it was an anomaly. Also b/c we had a marquee matchup for opening day. We even had some Hokies come in and post here. losthokie was one of the more prominent ones. Wasn't there a VT lady that came on here and tried to bitch every one out about how the Hokies were gonna destroy us, and it wouldn't even be close? 6/16/2007 11:53:06 PM |

Ok imagine 4-5 years from now, TOB has us back in the top of the ACC and in the Top 15 in the country. We've won at least one ACC Championship, and have lost in another ACC Championship game. Ticket demand is at an all time high, and student enrollment continues to increase. We need to expand the stadium again, but it will take at least a year or two before the money can be raised an construction can be started/completed. What kind of short term expansion do you think we could do? Maybe add some bleachers similar to the ones atop the NEZ concourse to the SEZ concourse, even though it will block the view of the Murphy Center? I say for permanent expansion they continue to wrap around the upper deck in the NEZ side. If that's not enough perhaps a third deck on the East side? 6/17/2007 10:26:10 AM |
NCSUHOO Veteran 193 Posts user info edit post |
pretty sure it is already in the works to wrap around the upper deck in the NEZ. The only other way to expand is to add a third deck. 6/17/2007 10:51:11 AM |
Brass Monkey All American 13560 Posts user info edit post |
I wonder if they have any renderings for a possible expansion. They could release it to drum up support for it, and excitement amongst the program. Texas A&M and Texas have released pictures of models and renderings of their possible future expansions, even though they are a good 5-10 years away. I guess it would be kind of like the way car companies release concept cars and limited edition cars to build up excitement around the brand in order to sell more cars. 6/17/2007 11:09:47 AM |
