no doubt. one of my top 5 albums of the year. and to be honest i'll probably be listening to that one a lot more over the long-term than most of my other favorites from this year. 12/23/2007 2:19:22 PM |

I added some of their songs to knc's rotation back in the begining of the year. Im sure they're still in there.
The cd had some great stuff on it but I wouldnt say its awesome.12/23/2007 4:45:14 PM |

arcade fire's album was a little bit of a disappointment, but i think radiohead really brought it with in rainbows. 1/3/2008 10:48:50 AM |

still can't believe that many people like in rainbows as much as they do
and i'm really not buying that "all my friends" is the consensus best song of the year. it's not even the best song on that album 1/3/2008 1:33:09 PM |

I really like "All Of My Friends" but theres no way it's the song of the year either. I also can't believe DMST didn't get any love at all. "A With Living/The Universe!" are together probably the best song I've heard in the past few years 1/3/2008 1:57:19 PM |

I don't listen to much indie rock, so I guess I miss out on a lot of what's been talked about in this thread... but for what it's worth, here's my favorites so far from 2007. I'm still missing a lot of good albums that I haven't been able to listen to yet.
1. "None Shall Pass" - Aesop Rock 2. "Requiem - Mezzo Forte" - Virgin Black 3. "Mirrored" - Battles 4. "I'll Sleep When You're Dead" - El-P 5. "Mythmaker" - Skinny Puppy 6. "Folk Aesthetic 1996-2006" - Tenhi 7. "What The Fuck Is Wrong With You People?" - Combichrist 8. "Dead Again" - Type O Negative 9. "Judgement" - VNV Nation 10. "The Heart Of Everything" - Within Temptation 11. "Illumination" - Tristania 12. "Trail of the Unwary" - Nest 13. "When I'm Dead" - Dismantled 14. "Ghost Opera" - Kamelot 15. "Maths And English" - Dizzee Rascal 16. "Seven Sorrows" - Desiderii Marginis 17. "Optics" - I:Scintilla 18. "Solar Soul" - Samael 19. "Meta" - Assemblage 23 20. "Colors" - Between The Buried And Me
It's good to see what some of the consensus picks are from real people on TWW, though; maybe I'll have to check out these Neon Bibles and Boxers that people keep talking about so much. 2/27/2008 11:25:53 PM |

Andrew Bird still tops my list. I thought it was strange that no one (and hardly any "critics") mentioned the DMST album. I thought it was great addition to the discography. Everyone give tracks 2 and 3 a listen. 2/28/2008 12:00:02 PM |

I've got DMST at #20 http://newsroom-static.mcclatchyinteractive.com/creatives/0108/music07/index.html
my personal list is a little bit different as far as the order, but this was a collaborative with another producer.
