At the end of Act 2, fucking amazing game. The sheer amount of weapons and customizations is insane. You don't have to sneak around all the time either.You can slap a silencer and a scope on the M4 and run around the battlefields head shotting dudes. Ridiculous amount of fun.

The story is well, MGS . As a fan, this is basically all I could have asked for. They are bringing back just about every plot point from the previous games. However, if you rolled your eyes at the story before, that won't change with this game. The gameplay is just so much more accessible and fun this time around, I still recommend buying it even if the story bores the hell out of you. Skip the cutscenes if you have to.

Also, if this is your first time in an MGS game, try to kill all the bosses using the tranq gun, they'll drop special items.

are there any other games played for this series? I know it said this was Snake's last canonical appearance, but didn't know if something else was planned. In one of the cut scenes, it scrolls through all the MG game covers, after MGS4, it said, "under construction." Interesting.

i'm pretty sure this is the last in the series because i remember watching in a interview with hideo kojima (creater of MGS series) that he is retiring the franchise...but who knows...and the ending of the game...well...no spoilers

^hahaha, I gave up on that plan and just picked up MGS4 yesterday.

Hell of a lot of fun. It's interesting how they've changed the approach in this one...although I'm still only in Act 1, seems like you can just roll through GTA-style with M4 blazing.

Raiden is now a bad ass and not a whiny sack of crap

but I still think this game would be awesome if you haven't played the others because they explain everything pretty well

I JUST finished 3, it has taken over as my favorite game, a spot previously held by 1. Play it before you play 4. If you have a chance, play portable ops on psp too, it comes directly after 3 in the story line.

Welp, just finished it. This game totally delivered. Don't wanna spoil anything, but the ending was really just perfect. And oh god, Act 4 What a fucking roller coaster ride that was. Just an amazing game from start to finish.

Big Boss talked for far too long and his return was a stretch even by MGS standards. Meryl's wedding also dragged. Kojima needs to look into an editor. At least Otacon didn't bawl his eyes out over some chick who bwned him.

I also hate that he explained Psycho Mantis' mind-reading abilities and Liquid taking over Ocelot's body. The bizarre, supernatural stuff like that was one of the fun quirks of the MGS universe. It also doesn't explain why Mantis could read his dad's mind as a child.

I loved the final scene. Everything up to that point had been far too predictable. It's MGS, so of course there had to one final twist, a big reveal that turned everything on it's head one last time and finally concluded everything in a satisfying way. It was pretty cathartic imo. My only real gripe is how nanomachines were used as a plot device to answer literally every single question Seemed a little lazy, but didn't really bother me that much.

Sorry if that spoiled anything for anyone, I tried to be as vague as possible.

My issue last night was that I kept running out of rations during the fight. I used a few when I fought **** beforehand. And it took me FOREVER to figure out how to beat him.

make sure you charge the rail gun fully before you shoot them because it will kill them in one hit - you need to take down about 20 of them

Just beat it a while ago. Overall, it was an amazing game. Act 4 in particular was brilliant; but I have to admit: despite being a huge MGS fanboy, the ending was disappointing. It just dragged on for far, far, far, far too long and though some of the revelations were interesting, there was no emotional weight behind them.

Kojima set the bar way too high with MGS3's ending.

^some previous major plot points are briefly reviewed but most are just continued, so it may be difficult to pick up unless you read a summary on wikipedia or something

something that I wish you could unlock in MGS4 that you could play with in MGS2 is Raiden sword.

sometimes you just want to sneak around and sometimes you just want to go in the killing spree...and while on the topic, I was kind of disappointed that the cut scenes with raiden fighting are pretty awesome, I just hate that the player couldn't be more involved in the fight sequence...let me be the one that controls the acrobatics and sword slashes...but rather, what we get to do is shoot suicide gekko and not fully appreciate the fight scene

Raiden and Drebin were the two best characters in the game. How in the hell Kojima made Raiden into such a badass, i'll never know. I could totally see the next game in the series focusing on those two.
