They aren't combining shit, and Valve isn't putting in keyboard/mouse support for console users. This was all confirmed months ago. The console versions are inferior for many reasons besides control, the main one being a 16 player limit instead of 24. 8 players per team means you won't ever have a game where there is at least one of every class on each team. 9/26/2007 11:59:10 PM |

Nahh i hear ya man, it would be fun like that. No doubt about it, and for alot of console players - it's likely going to rock.
But they are not mixing the cross platform stuff. That would be a nutsack fog print on all the console players. They just wouldn't have the same precision nor optimal framerate in most cases. You won't see that for awhile. Even Epic yesterday said that they weren't going to combine UT3's PC and PS3 or 360 players either.

I really agree with speeding soldiers up a little bit, and snipers having the ability to jump while zoomed. I personally wish you could rocket jump or demo blast your way up to spots without it having to hurt so much. I mean, friendly fire is off, why should I take like 60 damage to RJ my way around the map as a soldier....after 2 I'm nearly dead.
I also wish they'd heighten the CP capture time on maps like grannary or well. Just a tiny bit. Keep the scout rush down.
Not so sure there's anything wrong with the Pyro, he still owns everything close quartered and CP's, but I understand the idea of increasing his range. 9/28/2007 10:20:03 AM |

I think the soldier speed is fine. What annoys me is the 4 rocket "clip" and the reload time .
Oh and Pyros suck so much on most of the maps. They say they're good in close quarters, but a large majority of the maps have super long sight lines so as a Pyro you end up getting killed before you get to the close quarters. Whatever happened to the napalm rocket launcher that Pyros had?
This would be my buff(s) to Pyros: -Increase flamethrower range by 50%. Right now the thing is like 3 yards. -Make fire "spreadable." That is, a burning player who runs into other burning players on his team spreads the fire. A way to balance it would be to make it do 50% less damage per jump. So, if getting set ablaze does 30pts of dmg, on the next jump it would burn for 15pts, then 8 pts, etc. etc..
A good measure of how balanced classes are is by pressing tab and looking at the ratios. On any given map per team you'll see:
Engineer Engineer Engineer Soldier Soldier Soldier Heavy Medic Medic Sniper
Oh, and don't hate me for this but Sentry Guns need to be nerfed for real. In TFC and TF Sentrys weren't that bad because 8 out of 9 classes had grenades. Even if you got killed you could still launch off a grenade or two before dying. Now, the ONLY classes that even have a chance at killing a sentry are Spies and Soldiers and even then it takes like 8 direct rocket hits on a level 4 sentry which is ridiculous. With any given map having no less than 3 engineers on each side, it's no wonder half the games I play in are stalemates or 1 hour long 2Fort sessions.

Yeah that's too many changes. And a 50% increase of pyro fire stream? Are you nuts? Then everyone would play as them. Hell I wouldn't touch anyone but a pyro then. Already tons of people play that class VERY successfully, and at least on the really competitive servers I play as. Stop trying to play the pryo as this stand alone rambo guy, he's a freaking support attack/defense CLEANUP. He's no designed to solo people exactly, although he can do just that even now.
Also, you can take out turrets with Demomen and Heavy/Medics as well. That's half the classes that can take them out, nerfing them would be stupid.
And that distrobution list is off man, you need to play in other servesr b/c people switch classes all the time depending on what the team needs, and generally people play all classes - there's not a single class that gets underused. Agreed on the cap point, and I'm waiting for rock as well. The border maps weren't created by Valve for TFC (did Quake TF have these?), but I'm sure someone will make them eventually (probably not until after Valve releases the hunted patch... if that happens).
I did go to a server a couple days ago that had ported over the well map from Fortress Forever (basically, a copy of the original CTF one). Didn't get a chance to really play it, though.
