Global Warming is such a croc. Check out this article http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/10/071030092705.htm There were full grown trees/ forest where the glaciers are now. It has been much warmer in the past and not because we were burning fossil fuels. I guess the cavemen must have been burning too much trees to warm earth.Global 11/20/2007 11:36:36 PM |

Something tells me that we're not going to make the world better by digging up all this oil, coal, and natural gas under the surface while not fully understanding the consequences.

i'm not going to pick a side, but from a neutral standpoint, this thread is a fine example of america. and by that, i'm calling you all idiots. good day. and yes, i am better than all of you. You may be asking "who does he think he is", but the answer is that I'm better than you all, and you don't have any place to know why. Just accept it. 11/22/2007 8:03:52 PM |

for those of you who think that 1.) global warming is crock of horse shit or 2.) those of you who know it's real but don't give a crock of horse shit, what's your response to this (admittedly simplified) logic? 2/25/2008 11:35:10 AM |

^ that's still completely stupid. There's not an on/off button of dealing with it or not dealing with it. We can reduce carbon emissions to any given degree with a corresponding economic detriment. And the risk isn't one scientist yelling at another one. The experts attach a very well quantified scale of y probability of x degrees increase.
Furthermore, it's not even proven that we can turn emissions around, as they're increasing like a freight train right now despite HUGE actions already being taken. You don't just get more net smiley faces by saying "okay, we're taking action, starting.... NOW!" 2/25/2008 9:19:02 PM |

i assume you are being sarcastic, because only a person dumb as dogshit could possibly believe that any "immediate" changes in gas prices have jack squat to do with what happens the day or week or (arguably) the month before...gas prices being lower now are the result of cheaper prices from weeks (if not months) ago

^^ actually, the announcement that we would do offshore drilling would certainly cause the price of gas to go down almost immediately. It's this crazy thing called "speculators." you lose 8/13/2008 9:26:43 PM |

I don't know anyone that doesn't believe in global warming. But its increased anthropomorphic global warming that is the debate. And it's by no means an argument thats over, despite what some people would like you to believe. 8/14/2008 1:18:15 AM |

Some of the gas price drop has been because of the olympics. China has pretty much halted production for a couple weeks. It will pick up once the games are over and prices will rise again.
Yeah. Wayyyy (150,000) before the industrial revolution there were like 280 ppm in the air, now there are 390 or so. Numbers are close, I forget exact values. I guess scientists say that shit will hit the fan at 550.
Global warming is very real. Its not some liberal bedtime story like republicans want me to believe; but its also not going to melt my car like some liberals want me to believe. In fact, hardly anyone knows whats going to happen. In terms of temperature, our effect or the consequences 8/14/2008 1:38:47 AM |
