^I don't think that's entirely bad. It feels like they're trying to keep the look and feel of TOS while also "modernizing" it.

I am cautiously optimistic about this movie now. If all else fails, at least it will look nice.

i hate that his is going to be a fucking reboot of the series. i'd rather see a movie set a decade after ds9.

well transformers was pretty bad...

I'm a star trek nerd... a trekkie if you will... A lot of people are going to have VERY high expectations if this character thinks he has the right-nay, the audacity, to reboot the trek franchise.

that would be a good time for a new series perhaps? or you could do one about the enterprise B or C

go old school.

I'm pretty sure Batman Begins came first.

It was a franchise reboot and covered the origin story with a new enemy (new to the movies, at least).

Wait until Abrams' Star Trek 2 and then ask for The Dark Knight.

as far as I can tell, the goal of this movie is to make the trek universe faggier than it already is

^^I was thinking 90210, or one of those shows. Kirk and Spock look like a couple of gay trekkies. I was looking forward to this...

Why does captain kirk look like he's not old enough to be out of college in those pictures? That kid doesn't even look old enough to drink.

This is the same crap they did with that terminator series, they aren't young because the characters would be that young, its because they're trying to appeal to high school kids who watch more tv and movies than anyone else.

It's one thing to look younger than the guys in the original, but it's another to ask people to believe that someone who looks 20-25 has somehow made it all the way through the ranks up to captain. I'm not a trekkie though, so maybe kirk supposedly did become a captain when he was really young.

[nerd] At 31 years of age in 2264, he was promoted to Captain. Not only the youngest captain in the fleet's history at that time, Kirk was slated to command one of the twelve Constitution-class starships, the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701). [/nerd]

Regardless of whether or not they made them look young, they just went too far with that Kirk. He looks like he just graduated high school. And he just looks way too homo.

good medical technology might make a guy in his 30s look healthy and youthful, but i would hope it wouldn't make him look like he just barely finished puberty.

and another thing that bothers me...

captain kirk was NOT the first captain of the enterprise. (looks like they are saying he will be from what I can tell with the images being released.)

it reminds me of the enterprise C

god not even really the enterprise C. the thing has a stubby penis bulge thing sticking out of it. The saucer is attached way too far back on the engineering hull.
