So I am at a crossroads with this game. I got enough stars to get to fight Bowser, but I am wondering if I should wait until I have all the stars. I actually started the final level and started to fight bowser but died, so should I just bite the bullet and beat the game or should I be a good gamer and get all the stars before I rescue the princess?

you can't get all the stars until you beat bowser.

That part took me at least 10 lives. Keep on getting star bits and you should be fine. I found that taking my time when he gets arms is key. I cant remember how many times I died when I was trying to spin those black ghosts into him and he crushed me cause I was too close.

You can shoot the rocks that he throws at you, but those same rocks may turn into ghosts if not shot.

you should get all the stars before beating bowser, because if you beat bowser and then get the rest of the stars, the game just makes you beat him again to unlock the secret

Maybe I was just lucky with my daredevil runs, but I beat both the spinning guy and the bouldergeist guy on daredevil my first try. I'm hoping this game gets more difficult, I'm at about 52 stars right now and I usually don't go on to a new galaxy until I have all the stars (or as many as I can get) in it's previous one.

How many hours worth of gameplay does this game have in it? I know it depends on the number of stars you go for - but on average . . . ?

I'm a 98 stars and adding up the hours listed on the Wii's Message Board brings it to about 20 hours so far. A little bit less since I occasionally left the game paused while I did other stuff.

No shit dumbass, i'm saying that if you get all the OTHER stars and THEN fight bowser, then you'll unlock the secret by having all 120. If you beat bowser first and then collect the rest of the stars, the game just makes you fight Bowser again before you can unlock anything.

I'm pretty sure you have to fight the last bowser to get the last 15 stars or so to get all the way to 120, then fight him again to get Luigi.

That was my understanding at least.

hey, sorry about that last post. You can unlock every area before fighting Bowser. The only stars that are tricky to get are the purple comets, but you unlock them in the Gate.

yes, you can get one purple coin challenge (in the gateway) but the purple coin comet doesn't appear till bowser is defeated

So you have to beat Bowser once, go back and get the purple coin stars, then go beat him again?

Also, if any of you are having trouble on the Mario vs. Mario races, I've found that doing consisten long jumps help out a lot. You travel faster when long jumping then you do when running, so you get quite a deals ahead of him.

just started the Engine room.

i mean this game is why i bought the Wii. the whole concept of gravity here is just amazing at times.

and i'm sure Bowser gets harder, but damn man i've seen sub-bosses more interesting.

I successfully put Mario into orbit the other day. On the desert level with all the pyramids and rising/falling towers, if you go for the secret star, there is a planet that is the perfect size. If you do a long jump, you can get four or five revolutions. I don't know why it is so fun.

Also, I have all of the stars except the purple coin stars and one I'm assuming you get for beating Bowser. I have to beat Bowser once to unlock the purple coin stars right?
