the illinois player shoots a free throw, i think a 1 and 1 and it bounced off the rim and rolled so the guys on the line are trying to get the rebound, the ref calls a foul and the ball goes in


don't think they called the foul.. not sure, not watching it very much

really good game tonight at 10. duke vs. marquette. young players vs. experience. i'm very curious to see how duke handles marquette's defense which is one of the best in the country. if they do well in this game it could be a surprisingly strong season for a young team.

i'm really glad duke finally plays zone some. paulus stands no chance against super quick guards who can shoot or pass and i don't think nolan smith is ready to run the offense even though he's a shut down defender.

henderson is out of control again, but nelson's a beast. zoubek is still goofy, but at least he's playing in position now...that's really all you have to do if you're 7' tall. i'm surprised taylor king doesn't have a bigger role in this duke team, but judging by his awkwardness, i'm guessing he's a defensive liability.

marquette will win a few games on my bracket this year...mcneal and james are tough to stop.

why hasn't the NIT gotten as much attention this year, regardless of who is in it it usually gets attention, and it's usually in HD, first time i can remember it hasn't been within the last 2 or 3 years.

but i can't complain since we are in HD tomorrow

don't worry folks, there will be plenty of time to complain all season about fouls called in favor of duke. this team drives more than any duke team i've ever seen and will go to the line a ton. you have to create the opportunity to get fouled.

this game is poorly officiated though. it's not consistent...some plays they call it tight, others they let them murder each other.

james has been somewhat contained since coach k put smith back in.

I don't think it's been a badly officiated game at all.. but you gotta admit, Singler flops like crazy already. I just don't like that kind of play. You never see Henderson or Nelson do that.

^^ and to be fair, Marquette might be the most dribble drive oriented team in the country... so it's not only Duke going to the hole this game.

^^singler isn't athletic as nelson or henderson...his flops will always be more noticeable even if he gets nailed. plus he's bailing out on a lot of plays to avoid fouls (which is a freshman mistake in my opinion). whoever pulls this one out, it's a big win at this time in the season.

// singler has hit the deck three times since my post and just now he drew a charge. the first two were mediocre contact plays. i'll call it the "freshman flop" - trying to draw a charge with any amount of contact.
