The Panthers have more than enough cap room to sign him.

They shouldn't though.

stallworth is nothing more than an avg 2nd WR that get a hot streak for 4 games and the rest of the season is no where to be found. I hope carolina wont go for him when better players are currently out there.

if i were julius peppers i would want to be traded....i would not want to play for our shitty ass fan base anymore...its freaking depressing playing for a home crowd that is apathetic at best

panthers.com sucks at photoshopping

so are they going to sell the two 19-inch TVs to the public or what

PANTHERS CLOSE TO SIGNING MOOSE by Michael David Smith

A league source tells PFT that the Carolina Panthers are close to an agreement with wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad, who became an unrestricted free agent when the Bears released him last week.

According to the source, the deal would pay Muhammad $1.5 million a year.

The 34-year-old Muhammad started his career with the Panthers and played nine seasons in Carolina before leaving for Chicago after the 2004 season. He had some solid seasons as a Panther, leading the league with 102 catches in 2000 and leading the league with 1,405 receiving yards and 16 receiving touchdowns in 2004. He never came close to that level of production in Chicago.

In Carolina, he's expected to compete with Dwayne Jarrett for the No. 2 receiver spot across the field from Steve Smith.

1.5 mil is way too much to pay for Moose

I think 1.5 million is a fair deal. A veteran's minimum for him would be around 1 million anyway.

I dont mind having moose back, i just wish they would have went a bit younger so we wont be in the same spot again soon.

Jarrett better pan out

Still it will be nice to see old 87 (assuming he buys his number back) catching balls that Jake throws a little too high...he's not the youngest WR but he was still kind of productive in Chicago...he's got good hands which is more than I can say for Carter or Colbert

^yea, the thing I like the most about moose is that he's a very willing blocker. He'll definitely help out the running game.

Nice lil pick up if it pans out. 1.5 Mil is a deal for a vet like Moose. Hopefully he stays healthy and shows that same fire he had earlier with Panthers. Would still like to see us get a young receiver to avoid similar situation in 2-3 years (hoping Moose puts up numbers for 2-3 years).

Would still love to see a TE that can open the field up...but I know our run game has big concerns. However I do feel a TE that can catch and get open and break tackles can open the run game up.

If we get Moose, and resign Carter, the WR situation is set. The team will have 5 WR going into training camp: Smith, Moose, Jarrett, Robinson, Carter.

What are they doing to the stadium other than the new scoreboards? I was in Charlotte today and driving by on 277 saw a lot of scaffolding up. Some of it was at the ends for the new scoreboards, but there was also a lot on the side going up to about the club level.

i got some advertisement from them in the mail a few months back...talking about some vip level shit...crazy expensive for my budget but i think it required some renovations this offseason...that might be some of the construction

Doesn't really have anything to do with this offseason, but Stephen Davis is going to sign a 1-day contract so he can retire as a Panther.

The Panthers restructured the deals of CB Ken Lucas and DT Maake Kemoeatu.

The re-worked contracts are expected to clear up just over $1 million in cap space.

^^also, Bazanez was supposed to be the QB of the future until he got hurt

and Moore looked like he might end up being the best QB from last year's class.

we're solid @ QB imo. Unless there is a steal available, they shouldn't draft another QB...maybe a bring in a vet for training camp.

^that's good, although it likely means Jenkins is gone.

i don't

that might've seemed like a possibility a couple weeks ago but now that Moose is about to sign, and considering the Panthers were not one of the teams that Crumpler talked to and met with last Friday, I don't see this happening. No way we pay $4 million + for an old TE with injury problems

We ARE however going to either trade (hopefully) or release (more likely) Kris Jenkins before Friday so we don't have to pay him his $1mil + bonus

^^well i mean yeah that would be ideal.....but lots of times things that are ideal dont happen....wonder who we could get if we traded, or how high a draft pick(i'd guess highest round we'd get would be second, but i dont know shit about trading and drafts cause madden done fucked me up)

Nice, liking that pick up of Moose. Sounds good. Dropping Carr great move. How is Delhomme doing with rehab? Seems everyone is worrying about the DTs but I am worried about our CB and Safety situation.

Now back to this TE thing....

Delhomme still throwing Nerf balls

about 2 more months til he's whipping a real NFL pigskin around the yard

very gradual recovery apparently from the tommy john surgery...cant remember but they say right now jake either gets about 20 throws a day or about 20 minutes of throwing (with the nerf)

he needs to bounce back strong and start all 19 games for us this next season (18 if we're not a wildcard team)

So we will be picking up a QB in the draft then. But yeah, we need Jake to come back strong and start and finish every game this season. Giving him targets to throw to will help him make quick good decisions.

Wooooooooo! I can't wait for the "Mooooooose" chants to rain down at Bank of American Stadium again! And white gloves is let go on the same day?!

Now if we could get Colbert and Carter out I'd be beyond thrilled. I think their contracts are up Friday so I'm holding out hope.

I can't see them picking up a QB unless there is an absolute steal available...that would put 3 young QB's on the squad after they've stated that they've been very happy with the 2 they already have.....getting a vet via free agency i could see tho.
