Louisville has a better chance at beating UNC given their style of play and inside presence. Go Cards.

I think both teams are capable of beating UNC, and I like Tennessee better than Louisville, so Go Vols

More like UNC is capable of beating themselves.

All they have to do is just like last year

get caught in a game where the shots don't fall

I don't care how fast you can run down the court

If Louisville beats UNC I won't be mad about them beating Tennessee. My co-worker met Rick Pitino last night at the Wine Vault next to Boardwalk Billy's in the UNCC area. The bartender told him that when Louisville was in C-USA and they'd be playing UNCC, Pitino would always swing by there.

yeah, I really think the big thing is that their cool, calm guy on the court is a three point shooter (Lofton) which even the best ones miss a lot... they really need a good floor leader

Scotty Hopson please

Who would have thought Jordan Howell made that much difference?

They didn't play well in the SEC or the NCAA tournament...

Ramar Smith was terrible and out of control tonight and Chism/Crews were almost non-existent.

it was mentioned in some other thread, but for consistency... signed probably the biggest recruit in 15 years last week, Scotty Hopson, 5-star, perfect fit for what they need with JaJuan Smith and Lofton gone..

can't wait til football season

10-2 realistic (11-1 possible) and tops in the SEC is my prediction

they have a weak out of conference schedule (and a weak in conference schedule too)

Sept. 1, 2008 at UCLA W
Sept. 13, 2008 UAB W
Sept. 20, 2008 Florida W
Sept. 27, 2008 at Auburn W
Oct. 4, 2008 Northern Illinois W
Oct. 11, 2008 at Georgia L
Oct. 18, 2008 Miss. State W
Oct. 25, 2008 Alabama TBA W
Nov. 1, 2008 at South Carolina L
Nov. 8, 2008 Wyoming W
Nov. 22, 2008 at Vanderbilt W
Nov. 29, 2008 Kentucky W

^^^ weak in conference? impossible. And when you play in the SEC if you have one good OOC game your schedule is very hard

is it weak in-conference just because they don't have to play LSU?

i mean, they've got to go TO Georgia and Auburn, that's not exactly a walk in the park, especially not with GA being the early favorite to play for the national championship

They were ranked #1 in the RPI playing the like #3 toughest schedule. We were not close to either number so not sure why you are trolling.

It's at Auburn, I think it'll be a toughy. I don't think they'll have a hell of a time winning the east.

But Auburn will have a totally new offense too... but either way I think GA will be the front runner in the east and probably the entire country

damn... great article, going to miss him...

thanks LunaK for finding this

Quote :
"Lofton's numbers went down -- his scoring average and shooting percentages. Part of that was Tennessee's having more balance on offense, but he also started the season by going 6-of-28 from the field in his first three games.

Heading into SEC play on Jan. 9, he was shooting just 34.3 percent from the field. Yet, when the Vols needed him most during the stretch run to their first outright SEC championship since 1967, Lofton was there to save them on multiple occasions.

"For a time, I was asked about Chris Lofton pretty much every day," Pearl said, "and while knowing the underlying reasons of what was going on, I had to respect his wishes and his privacy. To answer that question now, with everything out, no, Chris wasn't quite the same. I don't think there's any question that the cancer, the treatment, the loss in strength … all of those definitely were a factor. "

I remember all you haters talking shit...
