I signed up to volunteer at the festival and when the orientation information was sent to me I was surprised to read:
Quote :
"Pour patrons 2 ounces of beer only; 1 ounce if beer is >6% ABV. "

I have never been to one of these before, but I was expecting people to be given at least more than a swallow at the stands. Is this basically standard for all beer festivals and is this how it was done last year in Raleigh?

hah, is barely 2oz, unless the person pouring is some old geezer (usually they give you more, specially later in the evening).

and you'd be surprised, 100+ beers at 2oz will get you tanked really fast.

i just sip and pour it out if its nothing special. ill save my space for the good stuff.

If you want to come with us, we're going to the second/evening/night/whatever session. There's about eight of us (guys + girls) so it should be entertaining.

Look, i shouldn't be saying this on here so that my place in line might move forward, but get there early. There is a parade and all day festival to honor the military or something in downtown the same day.

great job planning there city of raleigh.

I'm thinking its 50/50 right now that I'll fall over with my crutches, 90/10 if there's any amount of rain.

Did anyone drive to the evening session last year? I was just wondering how full the decks/parking around there were at around 5-530.

but beer is heavy. and yeah about the free parking pass, i just don't want to have to deal with downtown raleigh for such a big event, plus the parade. i'm at the first session.

Yeah, there's a lot of shit going on downtown tomorrow. Parade, voting, this festival, protesting, and it's probably going to rain. Quite frankly though I could care less about the rain. I'll be intoxicated enough that I doubt I'll care.

We're taking the bus downtown since pretty much any bus you get on will end up at the Transit Station right next to Moore Square. Only problem being getting back since the retarded city bus system stops running around 9:30/10 on Saturday. Taxi cabin' it back I suppose.

Did anyone else get a glass from last year? I got one with the 2007 date on it, and so did several other people I was with. Were they really too cheap to buy all new glasses? If I go to the 2008 beer fest I'd like to get a 2008 glass too.
