With the 28th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys select Felix Jones, RB, of Akansas. The Cowboys take a player many could have predicted, but not for the reasons most would assume. Jerry Jones picks him for his impressive average yards per carry and considerable return skills - not his last name or alma mater. Also of note, RB may be the 3rd most likely position to be addressed behind CB and WR. A likely scenario has the Cowboys take a CB with the 22 and trade for a premier veteran WR, if available. The Cowboys may be able to get a better RB in the second round than any CB that might be there at the end of round 2. As it stands the available CBs at 28 do not measure up in value to the RBs available here so Felix is the pick. Jammal Charles of Texas may, perhaps, be considered an interchangeable pick if Seattle does not reach for Morgan and takes Jones.

With the 28th pick in the 2008 NFL draft, the San Franscisco 49ers select Quentin Groves, DE/LB, Auburn
The 49ers need someone to play on the other side of Manny Lawson, so Groves, the best pass rusher left in the draft, fills a need. With their being plenty of good value in WR and OL around, the 49ers are confident they can get a good OL or WR with the 8th pick in the 2nd rd

Since dnl got suspended, I'm going to make the pick for him
With the 30th pick of the 2008 TWW NFL Mock Draft, The Green Bay Packers select Brandon Flowers, CB Virginia Tech
Flowers will help the Packers improving its aging cornerback corps, which led by Al Harris and Charles Woodson, both over 30.

With the 31st pick in the 2008 NFL Draft the New York Giants select: Dan Connor - Penn State
The G-Men need to replace Kawika Mitchell and they do that with Connor.
by the way I'm up for round 2 as well.

With the #32 pick in the 2008 TWW Mock Draft the Miami Dolphins select Curtis Lofton, ILB, Oklahoma. With the departure of Zach Thomas, Miami needs to upgrade at the ILB position to fill the 3-4. Lofton is a big hitter and reliable tackler and can step up to stop the run. This should alleviate some of the defensive questions Miami did not answer by taking Jake Long with the first overall pick.

With the 33rd pick STL selects DeShaun Jackson - WR, Cal
They had a lot of good options with this pick. I eventually narrowed it down to Jackson/Hardy, Nicks, or Mayo. They need an OT reasonably early with the concerns about Orlando Pace and Alex Barron but Nicks has character flags holding him back and Jackson is too talented to slip any further than this. Mayo would be an interesting pick if they are planning on making the move to a 3-4 but I don't know enough about that to pull the trigger.
They have Drew Bennett and Dante Hall on the roster already, so the choice between Hardy and Jackson will be based on which of those players needs an upgrade more. I think it's Hall.

With the 34th pick in the 2008 NFL draft, the Atlanta Falcons select Joe Flacco QB - Delaware
The strategy of passing on Matt Ryan in the first round has paid off and the Falcons can still fill their gaping QB hole with a quality player. Flacco has a huge arm and lots of NFL potential, so passing on Ryan in round 1 may wind up being the best decision of the draft 4/19/2008 5:21:37 PM |

With the 35th pick in Round 2, the Kansas City Chiefs select Carl Nicks, OT from Nebraska.
Since they/I didn't pick an offensive lineman in the first round to rebuild their struggling offensive line that I had no idea about, they select one here.
Oh, and how many rounds are you guys planning on taking this? All the way or just the first few?

With McNair retiring and only Boller and Smith left to QB, I see baltimore going with henne as their possible QB of the future.

Denver Broncos select DT Trevor Laws, Notre Dame
the Broncos SUCK at DT and need someone that can fill that void...why not give it a try with Laws he was the only down lineman in 2007 to produce over 100 tackles, and actually blocked three kicks. could be just what the Broncos ordered. 4/22/2008 1:32:05 PM |

With the 43rd pick, the Carolina Panthers select Anthony Collins, OT Kansas
No big suprise that the Panthers need some help on their o-line, and with Collins hopefully they finally set themselves up with bookends on the line. 4/22/2008 5:54:54 PM |

With the 44th pick, the Chicago Bears select RB Chris Johnson, East Carolina.
With this pick I think the bears look at all three of the offensive skill positions having already filled their OT need in the first round. With the top tier of quarterbacks already gone, I think the Bears go with a RB to add a speedy compliment to Cedric Benson.

The Detroit Lions select Jerod Mayo
The lions cannot believe he is still out there, so they take the best player on the board who should greatly help their shaky linebacker corps.

With the 46th pick of the 2008 Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select Early Doucet, WR, LSU
With Chris Henry gone and Chad Johnson wanting to leave, the Bengals have a glaring hole at WR that needs to be filled. Doucet could break into the lineup early (pun intended) and start opposite Housh. Cincinatti still has needs at FS, LB and TE but i believe these can be sufficiently covered in later rounds.

In an unprecedented display of strategery, the Peterson/Edwards brain trust selects two QBs in the 1st round.
My fix:
17. KC: Phillip Merling 21. WAS: James Hardy 39. SF: Early Doucet 46. CIN: saps852 picks someone else
or just leave it alone
