"Not quite sure which QB to go with...Jay Cutler was ranked higher than Eli but I trust the Giants to move the ball down the field a lot more than I do the Broncos. Also, which D will come through bigger, Seattle or Indy? Any thoughts?"

Cutler will put up better numbers this year. The Broncos running game is not what it used to be, so they are moving more towards a pass-first offense. Plus their defense stinks, so they will be throwing the ball a lot trying to keep pace with the other team's offense in shootout type games. And to top it all off, Cutler is a better, much more accurate passer than Eli. Cutler could break out for 4000 yards and 30 TD's this year. You know with Eli his ceiling is about 3500 and 25 with lots of interceptions.

Indy's D should be sick again this year. Go with them. Seriously, they were nasty last year and they get Freeney back.

haha in my 2nd league (no money down, just for fun) we did the whole defensive players thing.

i took mario, adrian wilson and dajuan morgan... and kenny phillips and elvis dumervil.

i might drop elvis and pick up manny lawson and drop kenny to pick up tulloch.

Same league as AxlBonBach. Sucks to have drafted Osi

RB1: Brian Westbrook
RB2: Larry Johnson

K: Nick Folk

DEF: New England

LB1: Will Witherspoon
LB2: Gary Brackett
DE: Osi Umenyiora

$25 entry fee (covers league upgrade and $125 - $175 first place prize....I could also break it down where 2nd and 3rd get their $ back if the majority of people want that)

PPR league with per game total yardage bonuses for QB, RB and WR.

defensive shutouts 30 pts

3 week, 6 team playoff format with top two reg season seeds having a 1st round bye.

Right now, the draft is live in Yahoo, set for 9/3 @ 9:00pm, but can be changed if needed

Need some advice... my receivers are TO, Chad Johnson, and Joey Galloway. In my league we have 2WR and a slot. I don't have a solid slot...currently using Felix(Dallas).

I have a guy in my league that really wants TO, he has Tory Holt, Anquan Boldin, and Lav Coles. I'm pretty sure I can get 2 of his WR for TO. Is this a good idea? (Was thinking Tory and Lav Coles)

I agree with the bird...TO is a definite while all three of those options could be busts...depending on how different situations play out...

Even though Chad Johnson is potentially banged up (50 pushups...?!) ?

It is a 2 player keeper though... so I probably should cling to TO.

I personally think you could get more from a trade for TO, but I suppose I see where you are coming from.

all of the preseason roster moves are just taking educated guesses without knowing what might happen.

12 person league - 10th pick, snake draft

QB - Delhomme
RB - Marion Barber
RB - Kevin Smith
WR - Steve Smith
WR - TO
W/R - Cotchery
TE - Gates
Def - Titans Def
K - Gostowski

BN - Maurice Morris
BN - Felix Jones
BN - Ray Rice
BN - Chris Johnson
BN - Tedd Ginn Jr
BN - Devin Hester (we get points for return yards)

I like my draft. Autodraft royally screwed some people, and they are going to have to do alot of trading.

If I have the 10th and 11th picks in a 10 man league should I go RB-RB or RB-WR if Moss or Owens is there?

what if Moss or Owens isn't there? Would you then go RB-RB unless I could get Brady (doubtful) or Manning?

well, if Moss or Owens aren't there, then you can likely get Lynch or MB3 as a second RB, essentially promising you a spot in the finals. If you do go RB, Brady....I would consider going WR, WR in the 3rd and 4th rd's, specifically because there is a significant drop off in WR's after the 4th rd, so you should try to capitalize on that if possible.

I've seen RB's like Earnest Graham, Willie Parker, and Edge, and even McFadden consistently go in the 5th/6th rd.

so...

RB, QB (only if Brady), WR, WR, RB, RB, WR, BPA......

I just drafted this weekend. At the end of the line in a 12 man 1 player keeper league that uses the snake format. Two time defending champ, so I hope things work out. We upped the number of players on the roster to 17 this year, so there's a lot of wasted space on the bench.

QB P. Manning
RB LJ
RB Selvin Young
WR Andre Johnson
WR Plax Burress
WR/RB Kevin Smith
TE Owen Daniels
DEF Tennessee
K Gould

BN Jamarcus Russell
BN Chris Brown
BN Ray Rice
BN Jerricho Cotchery
BN Santana Moss
BN Isaac Bruce
BN Kevin Curtis
BN Randy McMichael

Had to miss my draft tonight because of class and here is what I ended up with:

6th overall pick in a snake draft and it is a 12 man league...

QB Carson Palmer (Cin - QB)
WR Terrell Owens (Dal - WR)
WR Greg Jennings (GB - WR)
WR Dwayne Bowe (KC - WR)
RB Joseph Addai (Ind - RB)
RB Willie Parker (Pit - RB)
TE Heath Miller (Pit - TE)

BN Rashard Mendenhall (Pit - RB)
BN Jay Cutler (Den - QB)
BN Reggie Brown (Phi - WR)
BN Donte' Stallworth (Cle - WR)
BN Donald Lee (GB - TE)

K Nate Kaeding (SD - K)
DEF Jacksonville (Jac - DEF)
BN Tennessee (Ten - DEF)

Suggestions? I know I need a backup RB and I have a waiver pickup for Chris Johnson from Ten in place of Tennessee's defense, but there really isn't much left out there...

Also sucks because Cutler and Palmer have the same BYE, and I have another league where I already have Palmer, so I might be looking to shop him...

If you already drafted and got Rudi Johnson, you can either hope he makes a team or go ahead and scoop up Perry(starter) or Watson.

Also if anyone took a flier on Roydell Williams from Tenn., make note he has been cut because of an inability to come back from an ankle injury last year.

well actually peyton was my keeper. but in our league QB points are through the roof because it's 10 yards a point and 6 points for TDs, unlike almost every other league.

i picked peyton last year in the first round because of that reason specifically.

Had my draft yesterday and I forgot we had a limit of # of players at each position. We can only have 6 WR's and I wanted to take a chance on a 7th but couldn't fit him on my roster. (our 10 person league is weird, IDPs and such so our rosters/bench are pretty large so until injuries and byes the benches are mainly offense)

So here are the 3 WR's I have on the bench:
Reggie Brown, Phi - a #1 WR(w/ Curtis out) with a good rapport with McNabb, just is he 100%
Derrick Mason, Bal - a #1 WR on a team with questionable QB, RB, and OL play
Drew Bennett, Stl - a #2 WR now on a team that has been known to air it out

And I'm considering picking up the preseason wonder that is Eddie Royal.
Royal supposedly has won the #2 spot for Denver opposite Marshall(1 game suspension) and Cutler has been known to air it out some and their running game is well documented.

So my question is, do I drop one of my 3 to take a chance on Royal or just run with what I have?
Starting WR's are TO, R. Williams, and C. Chambers in case you were wondering.

12 man league and I had the 6th pick:

QB: Tom Brady
QB: Jon Kitna
RB: Clinton Portis
RB: Earnest Graham
RB: Kenny Watson
RB: Fred Taylor
WR: Andre Johnson
WR: Steve Smith
WR: Plaxico Burress
WR: Roddy White
WR: Kevin Curtis (I know he's hurt but could make a difference later in the season)
TE: Kellen Winslow
TE: Vernon Davis
K: Robbie Gould
K: Neil Rackers
D: Bills (As a Bills fan, I had to have a least one part of the team. Plus special teams is ftw)
D: Detroit

I was pretty contempt with my draft. I realize that my running backs and defenses are weak but I'm hoping Roddy White or Vernon Davis steps up so maybe I can use them as trade bait later in the season.

We start one quarterbacks, two running backs, three wide receivers, one tight end, one kicker, and one defense.

Any other potential weaknesses? Please comment.

[Edited on September 1, 2008 at 8:35 PM. Reason : V they are fixed slots, you have to have two kickers and defenses]

drop a kicker, drop a defense

get another WR and another RB, you can probably get chris perry if noone else did

definitely trade davis now if you can and get a good WR for him

I dunno how big of a difference this will make, but Rudi Johnson was signed by the Lions, so Kevin Smith's value will drop a little if they wind up splitting carries (or if Rudi wins the starting position)
