If it will give you any consolation, I had to set the difficulty to Easy for the first boss fight. Of course I did not quite understand the tactics system quite well at that point.

the rogue/priest chick sucks, tried her for a while, not that good.

right now its me (Dalish fighter), Allistair (his shield attacks are awesome, love the ones that stun, use them all the time), Morrigan (you HAVE to have the mage for some battles, found that out), and Sten (who really isnt that good at all, at least not for me).

The castle at Redcliffe is hard as fuck, I had to give up on it for now, but then I did the caravan and the battleground side quests and they are hard as hell too, really had to strategize and shit. Then I remember the downloaded content and got that loaded in so I will work on that for a while

fuck redcliff castle is hard as fuck. definitely going to have to do some other stuff to get gear / level first

I got through the main floor but then when you go up to the outside entrance that shit is ridiculous. I guess they are counting on you being compelled to do some side quests before that just because.

Once you get Wynne (a healer) from the Circle of Mages quest, the game gets much easier. This is actually the first quest you can do after Lothering, so head to Circle Tower first if you want a healer in your party (unless you rolled a healy mage as your main).

I think I'm starting to get a little bored with the game, mainly because you have to follow the story so closely in order not to potentially miss out on anything really good. Also, forgetting to save your game after a long run then randomly running into a group of a dozen or more enemies with that has like 5 archers, and then you die very fastly it really sucks (trying to be a 'man' and not switch it from normal to easy difficulty). I quit a few times today because of this and played Bad Company. I don[t know how much more I can take of this.

I'm playing on Hard, so obviously I'm dying a lot, but when I do win, it's sooo satisfying. I don't see how you can get bored with this game, the story lines are so unique and rich for each origin. If you played the game on Easy I can understand getting bored.

I can now wield tier 4 two-handed weapons, ftw. I love my character so far, I knock the bitches down, I sunder their weapon(s) out of their hand(s), and deal a mighty blow to their skull. My other characters keep the bitches off me long enough to survive while still dealing massive amounts of damage. Knockdowns are crucial to my fighting style though, and I know that later on I'll get a lot of enemies with high resistance to knockdowns. Hopefully by then my armor and damage output will balance that out, but we'll see.

are there ANY just plain one handed weapons in this game besides a dagger? Every longsword or mace I find is a "Main Hand" weapon that i can't put in my off hand. The only weapon i've found so far that i can put in my off hand for dual wielding is an enchanted dagger i found right after the origin story

I think if you advance certain skill or talent trees far enough you can use a main weapon in your off hand
