Pretty much everything about Gambit and Deadpool was disappointing.

Deadpool was fucking amazing...for his 3 minutes of screen time. I agree it would've been badass to watch him fight a mutant, talk shit while he was fighitng like he is supposed to do, break the 4th wall, or just talk more period. The whole thing of making him Weapon XI was THE most retarded and stupidest thing they could've done with the character. Now we have to wait for Marvel proper to make a new Deadpool movie (along the lines of the Hulk and Punisher remakes...but with Ryan Reynolds).

Gambit...gambit was just gay. Didn't have the right look (not scruffy enough), was too small/short, and had no accent. The staff was just kinda gay the way they had it, it would've been better if it was more like a pimp cane rather than a hobo staff with a weird cubic zirconium top. Wasn't agile enough in his fighting and Wolverine just had his way with him, where he's supposed to be able to put up a decent fight. WTF was with him climbing with his broken staff anyway?

Aside from all that, after he was subdued, he lost ALL of his characteristic trickery and slipperyness and became a lame side kick to Wolverine. Although having him come in at the very end of the movie was kind of in line, he was just made into a huge bitch overall.

No idea when the contract runs out, but as far as I know 20th Century Fox has the contract. They (or someone else) had the rights to Hulk, but when that tanked with the first movie they sold it back, so that's why Marvel was able to make a new one.

Unfortunately, I can't see that happening for a long time with Spiderman or X-Men

Marvel fucked the fans and themselves over hard with the contract. Basically it is renewable if FOX makes an X-Men movie every couple of years (which is 1/2 reasons they have multiple X-Men films in development) and expires in 2012 if no film is in production. There may be a clause in there regarding how profitable the films have to be but I'm not sure.

The kicker is that once the X-Men rights do revert back to Marvel, FOX will still hold the rights for certain individual X-Men characters because of a separate agreement they have with Marvel that gives them exclusive rights to individual Marvel characters (only those which have their own movie) for up to 10 years after the movie has been made. FOX is thus making X-Men movies based around the most popular characters (Wolverine/Magneto/any other X-Men character they decide to claim) in order to give themselves a shit ton of leverage for a new contract once/if the current one expires.

FOX has made Marvel a ton of money so their relationship will continue to be decent until the movies keep getting shittier and the money stops coming in. At least Marvel is making enough bank to pitch a good offer to FOX if they decide to try to buy the rights back, though I'm skeptical that will happen because FOX is smart enough to know that the X-Men has the potential to be lucrative for a very long time.

So how does deadpool bend his arms when the swords are sheathed? They seem like they'd force his arms to be straight. How did they cut his head off if his spine was made of metal? Remember in an X-men movie when Wolverine got shot in the head by a cop? The bullet went through his metal skull that time.

In X2 I dont think it went through his skull...I think it just flattened up against it and then was pushed out of his skin as he regen-ed

As for cutting off his head (admittedly I havent seen the movie yet) there are still small gaps/joins in each vertebrae, if the cut was precise enough it could have worked its way through those.

I don't know how Cyclops messes up other storylines. I don't remember the other X-men movies showing Cyclops origin. Maybe if they change what happens to Deadpool it will be halfway decent. I have heard that they might change the ending.

Of course Sabretooth being Wolverine's brother is also not right but I never read the Origins comics so I wouldn't know. Can someone please give me the plot summary of James Howlett?

its pretty much what they showed, except for Sabertooths character is named Dog, and James runs off with a girl named Rose instead of Dog. He becomes a lumberjack, and later is tracked down by Dog, they fight and Rose gets killed. They never say that Dog is Sabertooth, but he very much resembles him

Well, this is a frequent point of contention with the whole Wolverine skeletal bonding process. Some people say its only the bones, while some say that the ligaments are enhanced as well. It became a big issue with the recent Hulk vs Wolverine comic that showed Hulk tearing Wolverine in half, since if he was entirely adamantium then it would be pretty much impossible to do that. I think its generally accepted that its only the bones and not the tendons/ligaments that are altered.

Its what Exiled said^^^, that they just cut between the vertebrae. I kind of thing this would be a lot less likely than having the body ripped in half, since the precision required to do it in one strike (what the did in the movie) would be ridiculous, so a sawing motion would be much more believeable. Of course, then you get into 'how well does he heal' and wonder if the healing factor could override the saws...

Of course, if you buy into the retarded things that the Deadpool comics have done, then his head will grow a whole new body (the body might grow a head too) and then be on its merry way.

Yea I knew it could cut between vertebrae but didn't think his thick ass claws could make that precise of a cut. When he is cutting the sink in those people's bathrooms its pretty unbelievable too. Just because metal is sharp doesn't mean its going to cut through things that easily, you still have to put some force behind it. As for Deadpools new "swords" at the end, it is just pure bullshit.

I felt the same way about how they handled Sabertooth's claws too. When he was in the bar drawing the smiley face he was barely putting any force into it, and when he was walking up alongside Wolverine's gf's car, it looks like he was just brushing his claws against it yet the metal was all torn up.

i actually liked the moving until that god awful ending.i was ok with them splitting emma frosts powers with silverfox and calling them sisters but the end was just awful! deadpool as weapon xi with his mouth closed and everybody's powers?!? come on everything ab the ending was fucking retarded

After seeing some screen shots I made the assumption that the 'swords' were in a permanent out position. So they are like Wolverine's claws and can be retracted? I guess they are telescoping.

1. When it showed the father in the first scene, I thought to myself "Wow, they found a great actor to play Hugh Jackman's dad." So why do that and then it turn out Wolverine's a bastard.

2. That helicopter crash was somewhat realistic, with only a small fire and some nice wreckage. Then, BOOOOOOM. They just had to throw in a ridiculous explosion.

3. Xavier looked like Jar Jar Binks CGI. They didn't need to computer-enhance his face. Having him walk made him look young enough.

4. My dad has a '64 Harley Panhead. They are not immune to gatling gun bullets.

5. That must have been a long flight from New Orleans to New York. And it takes him that long to make the Three Mile Island connection.

Saw the midnight showing at Mission Valley. I enjoyed the movie, it was entertaining. Although at some points the CGI was absolutely horrific, the claws looked like they were straight out of MS Paint or some shit. I don't profess to be anything close to a die-hard fan, but I like the X-Men, grew up with the cartoon, & this was a good movie, not great, but good.

Wow.... just... wow. I know this adds nothing to the discussion but this movie was a FLAMING SHIT-PILE.

I am personally offended by the job they did making this movie. This thing was an affront to the whole x-men series of movies

Horrible acting by most, shallow characters, shitty poorly implemented plot vehicles, never felt at all invested in the outcome.
