i really doubt that they'll add a lot of new zombies

if you play through with the commentary, you'll find out that there are LESS special infected than originally planned

the balance they have now is perfect

I'm sure that I speak alone, and I don't know how many people have played this on both PC and 360, but I rape face with the hunter and a controller over keyboard and mouse and I can't figure out why. I think it's easier to get into it or something. When I come around to getting it on PC I might have to hook my 360 joystic coverter back up just for when I get spawned ad a hunter

are you sure it doesn't have anything to do with the ever present thou out of sight auto aiming on FPS shooters on consoles?

The auto aiming helps everything on the 360, but I still go in to a god-mode as a hunter and didn't get the same effect playing it on PC. Could be that I just sucked that bad chain leaping.

huge left4dead patch out today, fixes tons of glitches and issues

the smoker weak tongue issues were pretty crucial, and reducing the hunter's slash damage, which often was more effective than the pounce even in certain situations

Hunter

Easier to pounce a Survivor who is meleeing
Increased Minimum damage a Hunter pounce does

Smoker

Fixed Smoker tongue tolerance
Smoker now has to be killed or the tongue destroyed for the tongue to break
Survivors cannot bash someone off the tongue until the Survivor being pulled is paralyzed or hanging
Tongue attacks that fail to paralyze or hang a Survivor will use the shorter ability delay timer
Fixed cases where the ability timer was not using the correct time
Fixed case where you could point at a Survivor but not register a tongue hit
Fixed Smoker tongue not targeting and landing properly through PZ ghosts
Smoker tongue does damage every second while dragging paralyzed Survivors

Tank

Bashable objects now appear with a red glow
Tanks hitting a car with an alarm disables the alarm permanently
Tank frustration timer is only reset by hitting Survivors with rocks or fists
Reduced autoshotgun damage against Tanks

Witch

Witch spawns at the same % through the map for both teams
Avoids spawning within a certain % of the tank
Fixed an exploit where the Witch could be woken up and tricked into attacking Survivors

I haven't played it lately enough to know 100%, but there might be some sticky targetting. I can't really say that it felt like there was in the past though.

After paying close attention yesterday, the only auto aiming on the 360 that I was able to notice is by the infected with the Hunter and Smoker, and as far as I know it's the same way on the PC. You just have to have the reticule near a survivor to pounce or tongue them.

I am not really sure about this. I've been playing most FPS games on the 360 with my mouse and keyboard adapter, and it is immediately apparent whenever a game has built in aiming assist because it sometimes seems to override the accuracy of the mouse and you wind up snapping to target without having to do anything other than get remotely close to a good shot. I really do not like when this happens, so I turn off the feature in any game which has it. Call of Duty 4 is a perfect example of this, especially since the control in that particular game with my adapter is as close to PC-perfect as could be believed. I've not yet noticed any kind of aiming assist in Left 4 Dead, even on really long range shots. I tend to use the M14 (hunting rifle) about 90% of the time I play, and I don't recall it ever "snapping" to a headshot or even a center-of-mass shot a single time. While I generally shoot overall accuracy in the mid 40's%, my headshot accuracy is quite a bit lower (I don't know that I've ever broken 10%) since I only try to go for those at a distance.

nope - just play with other people on teamspeak who know what the fuck they're doing...trying to play this game with team members without voice chat is an exercise in futility

hell, half the time it's 8 of us playing against each other

edit: didn't you play with us one time? i'm pretty sure you're on my steam friends list...maybe that was someone else

i don't really play this game much any more. one of my friends plays this on my account all the time, his name is usually MR. POSITIVITY or TEAM WINNARDLY BEHAVIOR. I play mostly TF2 now.

but that's good to hear.

The insanely calculated teams are just incredibly annoying and no fun whether you're with them or against them.

This game is a lot of fun, but the only games worth joining are lobby games. I've been playing it alot since I beat Fear 2 and Fallout 3. If anyone plays this game a lot, add me and I'll show you my hunter skillz. SteamID = MoreUnique22

I rented this game, it's awesome. I refuse to play on a team that isn't all on Mics.

i think the campaigns are fun as long as you're playing with people who know what the hell they're doing. i've been trying to go through on expert and its amazing how clueless people are and how willing they are to lower the difficulty after a couple of bad runs. i usually wind up quitting because my teammates either shoot me more than the zombies, or i'm the only one left against horde after horde

New game play mode is out.

Survival

Basically. You set up your defenses. You hit a button. Zombies start coming.

You cant win.

You last maybe 3 minutes.

And there are multiple hunters smokers boomers tanks etc.

Its like left 4 dead counterstrike.

You cannot play as infected.

I was playing with idiot random pubs and was able to last 4 minutes. The special infected are alot better than in campaign mode.

So I picked this game up after the free trial this weekend.

Going to start playing a bunch I think.

I've just run thru some campaigns and why do people run away scared of the witch.... you CAN kill her....... Is there something special about killing her?

Anyone want to play tonight? I'm in love with this game.

I don't play campaign much these days, but in Versus the witch is the perfect ambush point for infected. If they can make the witch go off and boom, pounce or otherwise distract the other survivors, it's pretty much instadeath.

yep. there is a learning curve for playing infected, but once I figured it out, versus is by far my favorite mode.

I love dead air in versus. The threat of massive damage pounces from high up and smoke pulls off ledges is hair-raising. we straight dominated on it last night (they got 5 points on the construction site level...3 hunters and a smoker at the start FTW!)

One of my friends (who plays this game religiously) can consistently kill the witch with a point-blank shotgun blast to the head just as she is standing up to go psycho. It has something to do with the timing. I've seen him consistently do it 30+ times, but I've never done it myself. He does sometimes miss the timing, though, and he goes straight down.

It's just not worth the effort especially on expert, when you can usually just avoid her

you can't afford a guy going down and if the AI director is feeling cruel they'll throw in a rush or a boomer or some other shit at the same time and shit can get real ugly real fast
