i think i'm just gonna tough it out until May when i graduate and then i'll lose the smartphone shit and get a regular phone. as a student, i like having my email and some internet stuff on my phone. won't really have a use for all that when i go to work. 8/6/2009 10:11:21 PM |

htc should be proud of producing not one, not two, but THREE of the biggest piece of shit smartphones ever within the past few years. rivaled only by the windows based palms (treo pro excluded for now). i'll be bet the replacement/exchange numbers on the 6800, 6850, and 6900 are astronomical.
^that seems kind of backwards. not sure what your planned career is, but typically that works the opposite. if you need/enjoy a smartphone in college, the odds are pretty damn strong that'll just increase in "the real world". 8/7/2009 12:38:22 AM |

True, I use mine for both work-related purposes (keeping track of incoming emails when not at my desk) and non-work related (use the GPS frequently and the internet all the damn time). 8/7/2009 8:50:24 AM |

Do you have a treo pro? What's your experience been like? I've inquired with Sprint about getting a different model as a replacement for this latest Touch Pro, and been told possibly but it'd have to be in the same device class (unfortunately the Palm Pre is not, nor any blackberry). The Treo Pro is the only phone whose functionality comes close to the Touch Pro, but it's got a smaller and lower-res screen, lower-res camera, smaller keyboard, and is bulkier.8/8/2009 8:43:21 PM |

what's wrong with it? I have a couple of LCDs and one or two digitizers, but the unit itself is only good for a PDA with data-access unless you want to use that dorky wired headset to place calls. 9/4/2009 5:38:00 AM |

well, besides the cracked screen, my battery has gotten to the point where it only holds a charge for a few hours. a few as in 4-5. thats not good.
im just holding out on a touch pro2 price drop. i'll get one if it drops to $199, which is possible since that's what verizon will be selling theirs for. 9/5/2009 3:59:37 AM |

Yeah, i have a complete new fascia and LCD as well as a good battery if you feel like it's worth it to you to fix until the price drop. 9/5/2009 8:04:30 AM |

So apparently the TP2 will be out for Verizon on Friday.

My Storm is dying so I'm trying to decide whether to go ahead and pick this up for $100 or wait for the Storm 2. Anybody tried one of these that has a BB or anyone successfully made the switch to TouchFlo from a BB? I tried to switch to WinMo 6.1 with an Omnia but I didn't even last for a week before going back to my Storm (where the touchscreen flakes out about 1/2 the time I use it now). 9/6/2009 11:15:36 AM |

apparently it's only for business customers. If go to the PDA/Smartphones page, it's still listed as 349. If you select For Business Customers Only on the right, it lists it as 199. Some people are saying that they've gotten a credit back by calling CS. 10/1/2009 4:33:15 PM |

ordered the touch pro 2 off ebay - i hate contracts...
i'll keep it til the pixi comes out and then sell it
i played with it at the tmobile store since nobody else seems to have real demos of it and found it may be slow to respond but i'll test my own and not some whored out floor unit to determine that for sure.
i'll probably flash it to winmo 6.5.1 as soon as i get it - ppcgeeks forum has some good people working on that 10/1/2009 4:50:47 PM |

yeah i'll wait for the update. the onscreen keyboard on this tp2 is surprisingly good. i have no major issues with the phone yet. some pet peeves like getting used to no d pad are just personal things. but i'm managing fine. it's my first phone with touch flo so i'm giving it some time to get used to it. the screen is fucking brilliantly beautiful though. it's not as responsive as the iphone's imo. might be capacitve vs resistive or whatever. 10/3/2009 1:16:10 PM |
pttyndal WINGS!!!!! 35217 Posts user info edit post |
yeah, current windows mobile versions don't support capacitive screens so they're all resistive.

how's the on-screen keyboard on the htc hero? anyone played with it yet? i'm considering selling my touch pro 2 due to its size. i'd like something smaller/thinner to be honest but the on-screen keyboard has to be really good for me to do that. fuck, nevermind-- http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/23/htc-hero-review/ just read this and decided to wait for the pixi still.
