FUCK YEAH. I have never seen anything so ridiculous in my life. Upton almost didn't make it home because this dumbshit umpire can't get his head out of his ass and postpone the game.

no guarantee play resumess

mlb doesnt want a delay

kinda a lame way to end a ws

[Edited on October 27, 2008 at 10:43 PM. Reason : well this is just too optimal being tied and all]

I don't see how they could've ended the series on this anyway though. Just play the last four innings another time. Is there a rule that says once 5 innings are played and play is postponed and not restarted within 12 hours or something the game is automatically official no matter what? Even in the last game of the world series? If there is then Major League Baseball is the most trivial, stupidest fucking sport I have ever heard of in my life.

There's NO WAY MLB could end the WS due to rain. They have to finish this game at some point. Even if the Rays didn't score they had to stop the game and figure out a time to finish it.

yeah a tie game is a good thing...i don't want to win this in a rain delay. it would be awful for baseball, but for bud selig it would be par for the course

Agreed. This may seem sarcastic but I'm dead serious.

You haven't experienced a live sporting event like a baseball playoff game in the freezing cold in October. Everything about it is better. The colder you are, the drunker you get, the louder the stadium is... It's perfection.

Go Rays.

[Edited on October 27, 2008 at 11:10 PM. Reason : ^ they would have kept playing... no way they hand a title to someone.]

Nah I was serious. Not to mention artificial playing surfaces give the home team too much of an advantage.

To hell with this game, I'm going to bed.

If the home team hasn't completed its half of the inning and weather makes it impossible to re-start, it is declared a suspended game.

There is no way this game should have been played. In that weather, players can injure their face trying to catch a fly ball or tear their ankle sliding into second base. When the weather gets to that point the game is a sham. If anything, the game should have been called much, much earlier. Once the game was official, Selig knew he had fucked up. He wouldn't let the Phillies win the World Series on a shortened game. The mid-inning suspension of play after the Rays tied was the opportunity to save face MLB and Fox were waiting for the whole time. Selig never fails to find new ways to tarnish the game.

Advantage Rays.

They can throw out David Price and have him go as long as it takes. The Phillies go to? Chad Durbin?

Stars aligning for Rays?

No game tonight. 8:37pm Game 5 will resume on Wednesday.

So the Rays can throw David Price, who is damn near unhittable in short spurts, out there to finish up Game 5. They can then bring back Big Game James (gay nickname for someone who has never really accomplished much) for Game 6. And throw Garza for Game 7 on regular rest now...

[Edited on October 28, 2008 at 1:29 PM. Reason : Garza...]

Why was it so much simpler to call tonight's action in the afternoon? I'll tell you why. Fox wants to show "House". They'll get the ratings haul both nights. It's like having your cake and eating it too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this

And I know Price is good, but I don't understand all the hype he's getting right now either

Re: Price

Maybe it's his 12-1, 1.93 ERA, barely 1.10 WHIP and 3:1 K/BB in 19 professional starts.

Or his 206 ERA+ in 15 IP in the bigs during the regular season.

Or his 1.93 playoff ERA.

Guy is a stud and has NASTY stuff. I know I don't want to face him if I'm the Phils in a short outing (3 innnigs?).

"So we traded a guy who makes a few hundred thousand more than the league minimum, is still years away from being arbitration-eligible, and has all the makings of being a top-notch closer (when we're handcuffed into tossing a bunch of shitty retreads into the pen while our starters are dropping like flies and are lucky to consistently make it to the fifth inning) for a guy who's never even made an All-Star game and who's calling card is finishing 14th in MVP voting four years ago. All the while we have at least three guys in the minors who could do what he'll do this year for pennies on the dollar."

Don't worry. Kotsay had a 91 OPS+. That's... pretty... good.

Maddon better f'ing bring in David Price.

but i hope it's not david price

I see they canceled the travel day. Think the Phils'd throw Hamels out there on three days' rest for (potential) Game 7? Especially after only like 75 pitches Monday. He'd be available for long relief definitely.

Why would anyone outside of Philly root for any of their teams?

Philly is the worst sports city ever when it comes to fans.

Haha it was best in the Majors for anyone with 40+ innings or something like that: ERA: 0.59

Moyer, then? Good luck with allllll that...... Or Blanton, I guess. Though this is all very premature since they'll probably wrap it up tonight, unfortunately.

yeah currently the lineup is to stick with meyers then moyer.

heard hammels on the radio today

(paraphrase)

"we've been behind moyer all season and i have full confidence in him in a game 7"

total pr speak, but take it for what you will.

hammels is not the type to beg for the ball

yeah, I didn't mean to imply Moyer sucks....lord knows the man is 57 years old yet still went 6.1 fairly strong in game 3

but I'd personally rather ride my big gun like the D'backs did back in 2001 with Schilling and Johnson....then again, I gots no love for the Phils, so carry on

Fuck you Maddon for not starting Price.

That was easy a decision as they come, regardless of who is up in the next inning. He's a starter and used to coming in at the beginning of a night... dumbass deserves to lose.
