I don't see how they could've ended the series on this anyway though. Just play the last four innings another time. Is there a rule that says once 5 innings are played and play is postponed and not restarted within 12 hours or something the game is automatically official no matter what? Even in the last game of the world series? If there is then Major League Baseball is the most trivial, stupidest fucking sport I have ever heard of in my life. 10/27/2008 10:43:11 PM |

There's NO WAY MLB could end the WS due to rain. They have to finish this game at some point. Even if the Rays didn't score they had to stop the game and figure out a time to finish it. 10/27/2008 10:50:30 PM |

Agreed. This may seem sarcastic but I'm dead serious.
You haven't experienced a live sporting event like a baseball playoff game in the freezing cold in October. Everything about it is better. The colder you are, the drunker you get, the louder the stadium is... It's perfection.
Go Rays.

If the home team hasn't completed its half of the inning and weather makes it impossible to re-start, it is declared a suspended game. 10/27/2008 11:27:58 PM |

There is no way this game should have been played. In that weather, players can injure their face trying to catch a fly ball or tear their ankle sliding into second base. When the weather gets to that point the game is a sham. If anything, the game should have been called much, much earlier. Once the game was official, Selig knew he had fucked up. He wouldn't let the Phillies win the World Series on a shortened game. The mid-inning suspension of play after the Rays tied was the opportunity to save face MLB and Fox were waiting for the whole time. Selig never fails to find new ways to tarnish the game. 10/28/2008 9:46:07 AM |

Stars aligning for Rays?
No game tonight. 8:37pm Game 5 will resume on Wednesday.
So the Rays can throw David Price, who is damn near unhittable in short spurts, out there to finish up Game 5. They can then bring back Big Game James (gay nickname for someone who has never really accomplished much) for Game 6. And throw Garza for Game 7 on regular rest now...

Re: Price
Maybe it's his 12-1, 1.93 ERA, barely 1.10 WHIP and 3:1 K/BB in 19 professional starts.
Or his 206 ERA+ in 15 IP in the bigs during the regular season.
Or his 1.93 playoff ERA.
Guy is a stud and has NASTY stuff. I know I don't want to face him if I'm the Phils in a short outing (3 innnigs?). 10/28/2008 1:49:52 PM |

All the while we have at least three guys in the minors who could do what he'll do this year for pennies on the dollar." |
