I liked everything except the fact that Brad Pitt's character really thought he could pull off Italian. Maybe his character was just bs'ing to get into the theatre in the first place. I just can't see the OSS attempting to pull off such a seemingly covert operation with someone at the helm who can't speak the language needed to pull the job off.

It was a last minute decision after all of the german speakers were killed. They decided that they had to go for it since Hitler was there.

Its not that I have a problem with Pitt's character - just the fact that the OSS would let him do the job.

If you're the US military, and you have such a sure shot at Hitler, and Italian is required, you're gonna put someone in there that speaks fluent Italian.

Maybe it would've never worked without Raine, and the military would've screwed up by not putting him in that position, but in reality that is what they would have done.
