i work kinda near lake lynn. had thought about making a few casts after work one day. is it at least fishable? catching a lot doesn't matter much to me.

it's worth it to maybe take a map of the lake's running trail out there once and try to put some notes on what spots you see when walking around, the trail is about 3 miles or so

there's a parking lot on the north and the south ends of the lake, but there are apartment complexes w/ parking lots really close to the water at some spots in between

Went out of OI today, couldn't buy a bite. On the way in about 5 miles from the beach we went buy a floating board and I pulled a 20lb mahi off of it.

my pops has been catching some trout. they've moved out of the creeks into the rivers and river mouths to spawn. he kept four of the ones he caught yesterday and all 4 were females full of roe.

time for roe n eggs, y'all

^^Sorry, I left before I saw your reply. We went to the schoolhouse yesterday and all we saw were lots of boats. Pushed offshore about 10 more miles to a few ledges and stuff and started picking at mahi and kings.

We tried to bottom fish a little, but I'm still not very good at that...caught an american red and a few other bottom fish, but no grouper. I need to learn how to do that shit.

Ended up with 3 nice gaffer dolphin, all 12-20 pounds, and a limit of kings(6). Excellent weather finally and the boat ran well. My best day overall so far on my own.

Fumbler and i went fly fishing for the first time ever on our honeymoon in montana. it was a guided trip, wedding gift from my aunt & uncle. it was really awesome. we caught 2 rainbow trouts & 1 perch each. i liked it a lot more than i thought i would. i love how simple the equipment is and how it really is more reliant on your skill in the motion than how expensive and intricate your reel is...not that the reels aren't expensive, they just arent as important, if that makes sense. we bought rod & reel kits at walmart (only place to get fly stuff around here) when we got back.

^^^i wouldn't fish right at belhaven. get on out in the river. they're spawning out there.

fish different gulp salwater baits about 2 ft under a popping corn. fish up near the bank in 3-6 ft of water. you will catch speckled trout.

i'm staying off of 64 in knightdale for the next week and noticed people parked near the bridge over the Neuse and i'm planning on headed down there to kill some time. I haven't had much river fishing experience. What is my best bet for bank fishing? I was assuming just fishing with a bottom rig but the couple times i did fish in a river we also fished soft plastic power grubs on jigheads. Any one have any suggestions cough cough neuseriverrat cough

neuse river in knightdale off the bank?

get some jumbo minnows and fish them on the bottom and hope you catch a catfish. cut bait would be good too. get some crickets and fish them under a cork. maybe you'll catch a bream and then you can use that for cut bait.

i wouldn't mess w/ artificials in that situation

[Edited on June 21, 2009 at 11:12 PM. Reason : fish the crickets up real close to the bank]

btw, i caught a couple trout, a short flounder, a catfish and a 21" puppy drum saturday. turned every loose except the drum, which i gave to my granny to freeze and sometime bake in this awesome faux fish stew she makes. so damn good. i can't wait.

we were fishing at 5:30 am and left at 10:30 am before it got so damn hot. fun time.

heading down to Charleston on Saturday for a week of fishing.

reports are trolling around Morris Island is picking up lots of sea trout, so we're going to give that a shot on Saturday.

Blues are also hitting hard around the area, as well as kings. Hope to catch limit

also: jetskipro- are the blues still hitting off shackelford? heading there next friday to fish

Fished the Jolly Mon this past weekend, found the fish on friday 20 miles out, caught 8 kings in a matter of two hours and headed in to get some rest for tomorrow. Sat (when it counted) headed to the spot to find the water dirty green instead of that clear blue...

Found em again around 330, but never hooked up with a big one... just two late in the day
