I am okay with this deal, we got him for under 3 million. Maybe he will come out with a chip on his shoulder. The potential is there, and he is a better option than anything we wouldve went out and bought.

Not a bad deal for Cole IMO. He still has potential, it's just a matter of him stepping up to the bar. The last year has probably been a big reality check for him, and with him now losing over a million dollars from his last salary, he will be desperate to get his game back on track. Plus he and Staal are best buds so now our franchise player won't be emo for two years.

Highly doubtful on LaRose; I still think someone will throw money at him, but you never know... Either way, we don't have a whole lot of money left to work with when you consider the fact that we still need to sign Ruutu and possibly Babchuk (although JR is being a bit of a jackass about that).

I think there is still a good chance he is coming back. I don't know where the hard proof for all the burned bridges talk is, but I can see him coming back to JR with his best offer and working something out.

Only exception there is Detroit, I could see him signing there if offered.

Babchuk's fine as long as you put him with a responsible partner. He played very well paired with Leng Slewey in his first stint here. With that said, I wouldn't mind seeing Borer/Carson get some solid minutes next year.

You guys talk about his limited goal potential and lack of size.......but there's no question in my mind about what kind of player he is. He is all-go all the time, pours his heart out on the ice EVERY night. You could always count on him to bring his game of fearlessness, effort and grit. He did all the little things and didn't mind doing them. I'll take 5 Laroses over 5 Staals or 5 Coles anyday of the week. He is the type of player that Carolina didnt have enough of the last two years, effort guys that simply just wanted to outwork everyone else on the ice. He'll be missed dearly and who we replace him with will be crucial to our success next year.
