I got that gangsta lean on in my friend's Wakesetter and went surfing Saturday once the skies cleared. Sunday blew though! It had to be 20 degrees colder and rainy.

Man, wakeboarders have sick bodies. He did NOT have those arms in high school.

If i can skateboard, and I can wakeboard...both above average...will i be able to pick up snowboarding fairly easily?

friends want to plan a trip to snowshoe this christmas and i'm very interested, but i've never skiied or snowboarded in my life...and I really don't want to waste the entire trip in ski school or liquored up at the bar

Snowboarding is very different, but the balance and coordination developed in other sports will be very beneficial. You should be decent enough by the end of the first day to ride just about everything there.

would it be worth it to spend a day in their ski school or take a private lesson? or should i just grip it and rip it and try to learn on the fly with help from friends.

i'm leaning towards a lesson, because come to think of it most of my friends are skiers i believe.

"Whatever foot you put the most weight on will go down the mountain first."

That's basically what the guy in the rental shop told me. You wanna go straight, put a bunch of weight on your front foot. Turning is a matter of rotating the board with your rear foot and edging. Switching from heelside to toeside (or vice versa) starts with putting a lot of weight on your front foot to straighten the board and start your turn.

Some people do really well with lessons. I didn't take them and I was able to get the hang of it by the end of my first run down the bunny slopes. By my third run I was able to edge and carve fairly well. By the end of the day I was riding all the runs except the moguls. I've seen plenty of other people do the same.

Group lessons are pretty cheap, but the group can really slow you down if there are some uncoordinated folks in it. Private lessons are $$$.

Anybody ride last weekend? I did some surfing with the heater shirt on. Left it on a friend's dock, so when it came time to wakeboard I had to ride without it. A little on the chilly side, but still manageable. I think the water was in the low-60's.

^^^So if i wakeboard goofy footed with my left leg back does this mean it'll essentially be opposite? or will my dominate foot (right) still be in front, just with different weight proportions

Your dominate foot will still be in front. Think of the snowboard as being like rear wheel steering. You steer by kicking the back end of the board out and then edging. There are some "how to snowboard" videos on Youtube. Those might be helpful.

newsflash: snowboarding doesn't make you cool or hip

If you've never done either and will only be up there for a few days, you're going to spend 2/3 of the trip on your ass if you snowboard

Ski, and you should get the hang of it after 3-4 hours

but what do I know ? I'm only amazing at both

doubtful. Black people don't do winter sports.

Season = Over (for me at least)

Changed the oil, took down the tower speakers and the tower, winterized the boat, and covered her up with a big tarp last weekend.

I still want to go to Orlando to ride OWC, but I'm just feeling skeptical that I'll make it happen in the next few weeks. Gotta talk to my friend in Orlando to see how the water temps are and how busy he is with school right now.

Woo woo! Wakeboarding this afternoon and then wakeboarding all weekend. I'm so excited!

The neighbor just got an Air Nautique. We live on a lake and we're doing wakeboarding/wakesurfing until we collapse.
