im not saying almost counts in sports. im just saying we're not a C squad. If we're going by winning then Brazil, Argentina, France, England, Uraguay and Italy are the only teams better than us.

^ ummm Spain, Germany, Holland, + quite a few other teams

we're better than a "C" team but take it easy

okay I see what you're saying about if winning was all that matters but still

^^^All I'm saying is that Italy, Germany, and Brazil have shown that they are better than the rest of the world because they have won the most World Cups and they continue to do well in the World Cup. On the other hand you have teams like England who always make it to the knockout phase, but can just never seem to get that top 4 finish like Barzil does most of the time. Then you have teams like the USA, Republic of Korea, Costa Rica, etc who can get there, but either can't make it past the group phase most of the time, or lose out before the simi-finals. That is why I called the USA a C team. England is a step up from the USA, but they aren't Italy.

^^It's hard to say. Anything can happen. Don't count out England, Germany, Italy, Brazil, etc.

i am semi-watching this game during class...it appears spain is possessing the ball at an 90% clip...does iraq have a midfield, or are they playing the classic 8-0-2?

spain is looking very exposed in the back...if iraq knew how to pass instead of trying to dribble through the last players they could easily have some really good chances to tie this game up

yeah it looked like spain was more concerned with putting another one in the net...iraq had some good counter attacks but couldn't make anything of them

i wouldve like to see a tying goal, that long haired iraqi guy was a dribbling ball hog with his head always down. he was the focus of the counter attacks but seemed to ruin them all too

^Yeh that was stupid. Iraq was gassed and not even chasing the ball, but Spain kept trying to score and kept putting the ball over the line, so Iraq could restart their offense with a goal kick. It would have been funny, if Iraq would have tied it late.

that one dude on iraq has to feel bad after letting that wide open corner hit him right in the shins instead of blasting it into the net.

off topic (don't feel like starting a WC Qualifying thread):

North Korea qualified today, first time since 66.

That means both North Korea and South Korea will be in the WC finals. If they meet, it might start WW3.

i grew up in NC before Futbol was cool; only "gay" kids played it. Now i have such an amazing appreciation for it #1 because its hard as hell. To me someone like a Zidane is just in another league even compared to someone like Jordan or Larry Bird or Magic Johnson. When i see guys take a 40 yard pass and stop it with their foot, or curl in a 30 yard set piece, wow.
