I've found that southern fraternities are much different than fraternities most everywhere else. Only in the south can factory-outlet-bought polo shirt-wearing rural white frat guys who drive ten year old Chevy Tahoes think that they are social elites. Real social elites don't go to school to graduate and get up at 6:30 in the morning to go to meaningless sales-rep jobs.

dues, themselves, are pretty cheap. it's living in the house that gets a little pricey. but it's still comparable to living in the dorms or apartments when you factor in meals/parking/social/insurance plan/etc
