sucksthe little plastic wheels that roll in the track on the dakota power windows broke on mine. i got a piece of round plastic stock (think it might've been some sort of teflon) and had it turned down to the correct OD on a lathe and put a center hole on it. drilled out the posts that the original pieces snapped on and put the plastic wheels i made in with some small screws. cost me like $1.00 as opposed to buying a whole regulator.[Edited on January 8, 2010 at 5:08 PM. oh they're bright, that's for sure
1/9/2010 12:21:23 AM
^^^^Now that's ingenuity. Wish I could have done something like that but these pieces are of a bit more complex design and I'm not that good at rigging things up.

plugged a tire on the S2000

I added brake fluid to my pickup when the brake emergency light kept coming on everytime I tapped the brakes. I just had a fat attack and drove it to the Waffle House, and I didn't have any problems with it then.

Drove the fast one to work tonight. Made yet another person scream like a school girl. Got a some good drift action in as well as a ~30 yard burnout in 4th gear at 60mph. There was a LOT of smoke... You could smell the roasted tires about 100 yards away, Quinn can attest to the fact that these Yokohamas smell good when roasted for a few seconds, just enough to heat 'em up... I've got to stop driving like an idiot. After entertaining two co-workers, I said I was going to start selling tickets Hey BBR, we need to get your whip out here. They'll more than likely shit bricks in yours [Edited on January 11, 2010 at 11:51 PM. Reason : .]

blocked off the line from the air pump on the Ram so it would stop hissing.and picked up a BIG bolt in the right rear tire of my S2000 last night. I plugged it this morning, but I don't know if it'll hold. It left a pretty nasty puncture in the tread block. If I have to replace this one, it'll be 13 tires that I've replaced in the last few months, with 7 of them going on the S2000 over the course of about 6 weeks.
1/17/2010 12:05:52 PM
^where do u drive that u have messed up that many tires?
1/17/2010 12:10:18 PM
4 tires on my Ram (rears just worn out and due for replacement, fronts largely the same, although they got slightly quicker wear than they should've due to the front end needing some repair and alignment. it's fixed minus a wheel bearing and alignment, now, so this set should be fine, and the old tires were mostly just old and worn out)2 tires on my SV-650...again, the old ones were just old and worn outthen the S2000...wore out the set that was on it when I bought it, replaced all 4. I knew it prob needed an alignment (it wasn't pulling or anything, but it hadn't been aligned since I bought it. In the end, both rear wheels were like a degree off...I posted the specs earlier in this thread), but I figured it could wait a couple of weeks until I got around to it, even on soft, sticky tires. Well, 3 weeks later, both rears were worn out. Granted, I drove from New Bern to Raleigh and back a couple of times, and to Montgomery AL and back once, so it was a good number of miles, but still...3 weeks. I replaced both rears, and picked up a nail in the left rear the 2nd time I drove on it. I plugged it, and it's been fine...but then I picked up a big bolt in the right rear last night. I don't know if my plug will hold on this one...it's pretty fucked up.

Washed the Lexus and detailed the interior. Took me 3 hours this morning to apply a protective cleaner on all the plastic/rubber moldings, wipe down all the leather, vacuum, and get the glass 100% clean with no streaks. But damn, that interior is bitchin awesome now Washing the outside was more or less to just get the salt off from prior weeks. I knew it was going to rain today but I had time and it's been aggravating me that I hadn't already washed the salt off. All in all, a very productive 4 hours imo.Now on to hw [Edited on January 17, 2010 at 6:33 PM. Reason : .]

^^ but each his ownPricing CCV replacement parts tonight, I'll order em sometime this week. Still trying to find a brake booster for cheap. Autozone had a good price but they couldn't get it.Had a dead battery...left the car parked all weekend with the key in ignition. For future reference when it says "key in ignition lock" it'll drain the battery. Trickle charged it for half an hour and went to Autozone. Tested and still good. 2 new Kumho Ecsta ATS s to match and then rotated. Man they're cheap tires.

stripped some more paint off of the '66. getting pretty close to having the outside of the bed fully stripped--it's going faster now that I've figured out to use 3M wheels instead of wire wheels.also replaced the left front wheel bearing on the Ram. That was a little bit more of a bitch than I anticipated...had to beat the caliper a little to remove it, but the fun really began with getting axle nut off...I couldn't move it with the breaker bar even when I jumped up and down on it...I finally had to block it in place with a crowbar jammed between the studs, then use a driveshaft with one end cut off as a 4-5' long cheater pipe over the breaker bar. With the axle nut finally removed, the fun continued with the rotor. BFH wouldn't touch it, even with the aid of the almighty PB Blaster. I finally put a puller on it, and then put a cheater pipe over the breaker bar I was using to tighten the puller. It finally got to the point where I put on my safety glasses, because I figured that something had to be about to fly apart. Well, I finally got the rotor off, but only by pulling that BIG ASS sealed hub bearing apart. At this point, I BFH'd the half that remained stuck in the knuckle, and also attacked it some with a chisel, but fearing that I was about to really fuck something up, I called zxappeal to help bail me out before I got too crazy with it. Turns out, that's really exactly what it needed...We got it all apart by way of significant beating/prying/chisel work. Then it was time to use the shop press to drive out all 8 studs, and then the hub, which was pressed onto the rotor.I think I could do the other side relatively easily, but it's a little bit of a rat bastard just by virtue of everything being really damned big, heavy, and somewhat rusted together. Pieces don't just go where they're supposed with with hand pressure, the way they often do on little sports cars like I'm used to. On the flip side, at least you don't need tiny little girl fingers to reach into little places.oh, and I welded the heat shield back onto one of my catalytic converters. It had started rattling, which is one of the more annoying sounds that I can think of offhand.[Edited on January 19, 2010 at 1:05 AM. Reason : ][Edited on January 19, 2010 at 1:05 AM. Reason : ]

on my truck: nothing. well, i did get some mud on it AGAIN the other day and i haven't washed it in a month. hard times.on my jeep: replaced all cooling system hoses, replaced all front brake components, replaced distributor, wires, and plugs, replaced fuel and air filter, replaced carpet with spray-in bedliner, replaced windshield, and replaced radio. today i'm installing a 3-way system which is requiring a shitload of fabrication (5.25s in the doors, 3.5s in the lower dash, and ribbon tweeters on the a-pillar). so far i have $85 total in the radio/speakers. it's going to be sad if the jeep sounds better than my truck. i will eventually get a cheap amp and fab a fiberglass enclosure under the rear seat to house a 8" sub. i'm trying to see how good i can make it sound for as little as possible. i even built my own passive crossover networks to save money. just like BOSE, better sound through research.

took the injection pump off the dodge and rebuilt it. new seals, etc. almost all the way back together. built a puller for the injectors. gonna put new copper washers in them tomorrow and probably get them pop tested. then put it all back together with a new fuel pin, bump the timing 1/8" and she should be leak free and ready to pull some shit

got the Ram aligned yesterday and inspected this morning. i changed the oil/filter in it this afternoon.i need to do the same on the S2000, but I have to either wait until I get the rear tire patched, or buy a second set of jack stands. I also need to change the spark plugs, but I have a 1/2" drive torque wrench and 3/8" drive spark plug sockets, and can't seem to find my 1/2 to 3/8 adapter. I could do it without the torque wrench, but i'd rather wait and do it the right way. oh, and i also need to have the valve clearance checked on it.
1/24/2010 4:57:17 PM
put the pump on today and painted some engine parts. should have it running later this week
