Q: As a Braves fan, what's the worst thing you can hear in the fifth inning?

A: Jo-Jo Reyes is up in the bullpen, he's ready to go if needed.

Jurrjens looked like shit last night and his velocity was 3-4 mph slower than it should be. I'm worried that he may be hurt and hiding something. Obviously we'll see over his next few starts, but this season is starting out super shitty.

Jo-Jo Reyes - please die in a fire. You are the worst ML pitcher ever. I'd rather see Lima-time than Jo Jo. At least Lima was interesting to watch. Reyes is just painful.

Probably just a dead-arm period. It happens early on sometimes. Johan was at 92-93 in the opener and then barely touched 90 when the Nats touched him up.

Are you guys as nervous about Philly as I am? They are threatening to run away with the East. Their schedule in April is just ridiculous. Meanwhile our two teams are playing good teams and having to go west early. I know it all evens out, but the start in the NL East was always going to be important to stay with the Phils.

^ Yeah I'm a little nervous. The way things are going right now, the Phils will have a 6-7 game lead in the division by May (assuming the Mets/Braves/Marlins all hover around 500). It is complete bullshit that the Phils play no one their first three series of the year while the Braves are making cross country trips followed by a day game against a surprisingly good SF team.

Oh well sour grapes, but it sucks that we're barely one week into the season and the Braves are already 3 games out. I guess the wild card was/is the Braves only real hope anyway considering how weak the lineup is. McClouth looks like a minor leaguer, Glaus looks old and slow, Chipper is hurt as always, etc. My hope is the pitching, it is the only thing that will keep the Braves in contention.

Good win last night. Finally got some clutch hits and Glaus finally did something productive with runners on. Hanson looked good again. Need to win this series tonight with Hudson going. Phillies continued to make the Nats their bitch.

Melky sucks. Did anyone else hear the one man "lets go Padres" rally that lasted the entire bottom of the 8th? Guy must have been shit canned.

Another good win last night against another mediocre pitcher. We needed to win that series against what will be a bad Padres team (despite some young talent). Tough series coming up this weekend in Atlanta versus the Rockies.

Hopefully we'll get them tonight because the pitching matchup on Saturday (Kawakrappy vs. Ubaldo) looks like a definite defeat.

trying to decide between the saturday game vs. the rockies and FREAKNIK.

glad the bats came around the last two games, was getting worried that this team was going to have the same set of problems we had last year - good starting pitching, no run support, and a crap bullpen. keeping my fingers crossed!

^ Bullpen outside of Jo-Jo and the one Wagner blown save has been very good. Moylan is making a case to be the setup man IMO.

They still have the Freaknik or is that a joke?

They havent had it in more than 10 years, first year they are trying to bring it back.

^^ you seen the Fur Bus deal for games? picks you up at several different bars, free drinks on the way to and from the game, AND a game ticket, all for $30. Not bad...

Another solid game last night. Hitters all looked very patient and worked Hammel into deep counts. Hinske is looking like a great pick-up right now. Shit he probably deserves some starts on a regular basis for Glaus with the way he is hitting. Dude already has 6 RBIs in like 11 ABs.

Today's game will not be so easy. Ulbaldo - worst first name ever.

lol, why is it always the braves that get shat on for record setting performances. some nobody gets a no-hitter tonight, randy johnson gets his perfect game, and i think there was another one somewhere in there.

^ Ramon Martinez had an 18 strikeout game against us one night that I remember that was ridiculous. Also we got to experience the Livan Hernandez-Eric Gregg bull crap in the playoffs against the Marlins back in the day too.

Regardless though we are not the Cubs so I never feel that bad even when stuff like tonight happens. We were pretty much guaranteed to lose seeing that Kawakami was going against Ulbaldo so while the no hitter sucks, it is still just one loss. Hopefully the hitters come out pissed and focused tomorrow.

NC State shit. I had forgotten about Randy Johnson's perfect game, but I do remember the 18 strikeout game vividly.

I don't know, I've been bitching about it all season

Every game on FSC, four or five times a game, I'll just get two random commercials right in the middle of an AB

They're always TWC commercials, too. They came on when it was 2-1 or 3-1, ended during the celebration

AWESOME

yup... messy fucking bottom of the ninth, bad calls for both sides, make up calls, balks, walks, etc. but Heyward hit a 2 run single to win it

Pendelton said that before Heywards last at bat Heyward was saying "short swing short swing". That's awesome. It shows he reallly understands the game and wasn't just going up there to try to hit a homerun. All we needed was a basehit and he got it.

Great win for the Braves coming off the no-hitter. Team has now won 3 of the first 4 series and should have taken the SF series too.

Also Heyward joined Mel Ott, Al Kaline, and Ted Williams as the only players ever to have 15 RBIs in their first 12 games before the age of 21. Obscure stat I know, but talk about good company. Three HOFs.

^^im tellin ya, the kid is gonna be special. Frenchy tore it up when he first came up.....but everyone knew he had a weakness.

this kid doesn't....he goes opposite field, he has power, he takes the single when its given to him, he has great speed for a 6'5 240lb guy. I mean, hes just an all around badass

^ Dude Frenchy is still tearing it up

Actually he has been pretty solid for the Mets. Much better than Church was for us. He had around an 840 or so OPS in his time with the Mets last year (that is saying something for a guy with an OBP of 340-350). And he was off to a good start this year before hanging that 0-7 in that 20 inninng game a couple of nights back.

Truly embarrassing performance tonight. Make Kyle Kendrick look like Roy Halladay. Halladay will probably pitch a perfect game. Old, slow lineup with no power = many shutouts this season.
