Please, I think someone would have to demo a real invisibility cloak to get me to gasp. A thin notebook, even two years ago, was not that incredible. 1/27/2010 1:58:18 PM |

other than price, there was nothing wrong with the Air...its tiny, its a fully functional laptop...whats not to like?

Get some glare reducing eye glasses if they do, otherwise accept that most of the world spends the day staring at an LCD.
E-Ink displays are horrible. I have yet to see one that isn't slow as molasses on page turning or that actually feels crisp and clean to read. They always seem to feel kinda dirty.
Give me a nice LCD over that any day. Hell, I'd rather read book on my iPhone (and I do)." |
Not to bring this up again but you really have no idea what you're talking about do you. There's a reason CES 2010 focused so much on e-book readers. They are way way ahead of LCDs in terms of readability. They don't refresh at 60hz and are easy on your eyes.
How many books do you actually read? Reading off an LCD screen for work doesn't count. I've been using a computer since I can remember. I have two nice 24" monitors I work on, and I tried reading on my iPhone and it just didn't work. For reading anything over a long period of time an e-ink display is so much better than an LCD. The only people with your opinion are the ones who don't actually read for pleasure.
So no price mentioned yet on this thing?

i could see someone like my dad being interested in this. his macbook is getting old and he's kind of itching to move onto something new. he doesn't need horsepower, it's neat looking, and if this can display powerpoint/keynote slideshows, that would be a big plus for him. wait, can the iphone do that?

I hate how's he ditching netbooks. There's no way this would ever replace a netbook or laptop unless typing is incredibly fluid. Now that they're putting nvidia Ion chips in the netbooks they're more powerful than your $600-800 laptops for under $500.1/27/2010 2:08:16 PM |

The only difference seems to be that the iPhone can make phone calls and the iPad has a bigger screen.
Otherwise they're pretty much the same product.
I mean, obviously one isn't going to replace the other, but still.
