Yeah I've probably watched old timey baseball a dozen times over the years.

I love him hitting on the emo chick whose husband died.

I've been equating this to when Conan had the beard during the writers strike and he got to do whatever he wanted

this is way better since he gets to completely shit on NBC on a nightly basis now

It's getting better every night, and there's no way they can pull the plug before the scheduled last show because they'd look even worse.

Kenneth's "fun fact" about everyone on the staff uprooting their families was particularly stinging last night.

Gervais said it best: "You can do whatever you want. What are they gonna do, fucking fire you?"

On top of all that, Letterman has extended an open invitation to Conan to be on the Late Show.

so without scouring through the little catfight, is there any chance conan will stay on at 11:30 for the tonight show? or is he definately leaving? because after reading his statement, it seems like he gave nbc an ultimatum, and they could still keep him on?

TMZ is reporting Leno gets the 11:35 slot for an hour. Looks like he's getting the Tonight Show back.

He said he would absolutely refuse to do a show in the 12:30 A.M. spot now occupied by Mr. Letterman's show, "Late Night," and would indeed consider creating the same problem for NBC that Mr. Letterman's proposed deal with CBS caused.

"Would I go to CBS if they asked me?" Mr. Leno said. "Of course. I'm not going to do some little happy hour from Omaha at 12:30.""

I honestly cannot get over how bad of a move this is by NBC. They've just alienated an entire demographic that prefers Conan to Leno. Leno has got to be on the verge of retiring soon, and who are they going to replace him with? NBC is trying to undo the transition they set in to motion 5 years ago, and for what? Played out jokes and the reading of typos in newspapers? If anything, NBC should realize that they've had the best success this past week by unwittingly given Conan the ability to have free reign over his show, and it's been great.

I can't recall anyone coming out in support of Leno, or any Leno fan groups starting up or anything like that in the last week or two. It seems basically EVERYONE is siding with Conan and is anti leno. How does NBC not understand this?

They are obviously going to offend and scare away more viewers by keeping Leno over Conan instead of the other way around.

I just don't get it.

I wouldn't be so sure. Don't kid yourself, Leno has his fans. Probably still way more than Conan. It's just the people that are in Leno's demographic aren't the kind of people that would start facebook groups and online campaigns and really make their voices be heard (or care enough to do so). They're the older, simpler, (probably dumber) middle America people that probably struggle to stay awake through the monologue every night. They're also the same people that find Conan far too "edgy" to be funny. Conan has way more fanatics, but as far as actual people that prefer Leno to Conan or Letterman, they're still out there in droves, trust me. Not that it condones NBC's actions or anything, but this is still going to probably bring more viewers back to the 11:35 slot for them.

^Yeah, I already posted a link to that video last night and then somebody else posted a link to the same page this morning. way to be late to the party.

I'm sorry guys, I've always liked Jay. I like Conan better, but Jay has a certain characteristic. He's a lot like McDonalds. Not that great, but always reliably ok... I think so called "comedy snobs" completely miss this fact. When its 10:00 at night and you're trying to fall asleep, you're not looking for shit-your-pants laughs, you're just looking for some light hearted easy digesting entertainment. That's what Jay is.

But tonight he's on fire! This whole feud has been great for creating some nice punchlines on all sides

If you watched "Comedian" (seinfield documentary ) - him and Leno are pals. Leno just talked about saving & making as much money as possible in case he went broke someday. Seinfeld laughed at him

Not if he quits. They're giving him the option to stay or walk. If he chooses to walk, he wouldn't get paid. But then again, I'm sure he wouldn't leave without having something else lined up at another network. Personally I'd love to see him go to Fox and kick Leno's ass. I know it's not likely, but that would be awesome.

I suppose it's who you believe, but Business Insider and the NY Times seem to disagree with just about everything said in that TMZ article you posted.

Well, you're wrong.

This entire stupid argument started off because I said that if Conan quit and left his contract he would get nothing. And that's still 100% true. If he just up and quits, he would break the contract and forfeit any of the money owed to him. The only money he would get from NBC is whatever spare change he could scoop up from the couch cushions on the way out of the studio.

Well for the most part. Sure its not the full $80mil, but I never really argued that he would get the FULL $80mil. It was just that if he walked, he would get paid, which is happening. The is pretty much the deal breaker for El Nacho...

$30mil is couch change to you?? I mean I guess it makes sense...some pretty rich people have set on that couch over the past 7 months or so.

umm...I can't help it if you are too stupid to realize that the quote you just posted is and always was correct.

He did not "just up and quit" the show. NBC bought him out of his contract. There's a huge difference. The TMZ article you posted and defended for 3 pages stated that he could quit the show, break the contract, and go sit on a beach and collect $80 million. I don't know how to make it any clearer than to say that article was wrong and you were wrong for defending it so emphatically and basing your entire argument around it.

I guess you can claim that all along you meant that he would end up settling, but that's simply not what you and I were arguing about. If at any point you had brought up the possibility of a settlement with NBC and I had disagreed with that then I can see where you could claim "victory" but that just never happened. I said that it was ridiculous for him to be able to break his contract and walk away with $80 million like the TMZ article said, and you continued to disagree. You said NBC violated the contract and at the end of the day, that wasn't true. At no point during this ridiculous argument have you said anything that was true that I have disagreed with. (Mostly however, because much of what you said ended up not being true)

I know I shouldn't argue with idiots because in the end, people watching can't tell the difference. As a final note, I will say I am pretty ashamed that I allowed myself to engage in any debate with someone that starts a thread titled "Jay Leno moving back to 11:30pm time slot" and then later in that thread says "A time slot is not always a specific time"
