well, at least rivers is perpetuating his tenure at NCS

That reminds me of the GT game that year we gave up a 3rd and 20 to lose (after a DOG penalty of course)

Rivers sucked, his receivers sucked worse.

Dammit, that GT penalty brings back some sore memories. Had we won (easily) that game, we probably win at VA, and finish with 1 or less losses. Chuck would be employed and we would be in a different world. We would not have been in the gator bowl.

I think they win if the weather doesn't suck. P.Riv seemed to be getting killed by the wet ball on pass plays and shit in the last 4 downs, two of his targets slipped on the muddy turf.

Rivers might be the most angry man in America right now.

neither team had shit for a run game.

The Chiefs will be well under .500 this year. Their offense suuuuuuuuuucks. They will win a few games with a decent defense. They can't Raven themselves into greatness.

Rivers will be fine. Rain does equalize the air game.

KC didn't even think about scoring in the second half. If they win 5, they should get a medal.

Punt coverage I think was the number 1 factor in this game.

fuck the rain, thats no excuse

his receivers should have caught the majority of those passes

good lord, KC didn't do shit, they just ran a kick off back, got a lucky fumble recovery at the 3 yard line, about the only place KC could score from since they couldn't make any 1st downs on their own, oh yea, and a single 56 yard TD carry from Charles, which equated to 25% of their ENTIRE offensive yardage.

if SD didn't make so many mistakes they would have won this one, offensively it wasn't even close, both defenses looked good, it was really won/loss by the STs

i hope this is a wakeup call and the Chargers win the rest from here on out.

punt coverage was horrible but didn't play a factor, fact is KC couldn't move the ball, so whether it was on the 1 yard line or 20 yard line didn't matter. it was the kick-off coverage that was terrible. the receivers should have also been able to catch the ball in the rain which would have given them a lot more chances for points earlier in the game.

The team will be fine. Special teams fuckups like that can be corrected, especially when they have one of the best punters in the game in Scifres.

The defense looked very good save for that 1 long run by Jamaal Charles. If they play like that all the time, the Chargers are gonna win a lot of games.

The offense will find it's groove on a field where the turf doesn't give out every time you try to cut. Next week they play the Jags at home. Chargers should win that one without too much trouble, provided that they don't shit the bed on special teams again.

Really?? Just because the Chargers lost and Rivers is their QB?? State fans are sad.

I was disappointed, but I just chalk it up as another NC State disappointment. Rivers will definitely have a nice career (barring injuries), but he'll most likely never win a Super Bowl...which might keep him out of the HOF, but I hope not.

Rivers still had very solid stats last night. 298 yds, 2 TDs, 0 Ints, 98 Passer Rating. Matthews will get better and the Chargers will be okay. They are fortunate to play in the worst division in football (along with the NFC West).

Yes push the panic button now!
2009 - 2-4 - Won AFC West
2008 - 0-2 and 4-8 Divisional Rd of the Playoffs
2007 - 1-3 Conference Championship Game

The Chargers are notorious for starting the season slow, but they always get it turned around by mid-season and go on a run. They lost a slop game @ Arrowhead! Yes, it is a division opponent but I don't think the Chiefs will be challenging for the AFC West this year. (Pretty similar to the Dallas start this year IMO).

It was a shitty game to lose (not to mention watch), but the rational thinker in me tells me the Chargers will be fine. They need to fucking fix Sproles though, he played like a retard yesterday.

They do, but having the Broncos, the Raiders, and the Chiefs in their division sure helps.

On 2nd, 3rd, or 4th and goal. Cost me my fantasy win. I know he doesn't like to run, but when you've got wide open lanes, you've got to bust the gut if it's there. Even if he didn't make it in, he would have set up easy to push the lines forward for the score.

i know he's slow, but there was hole and when the game is on the line, you take what you can get. If it was early, don't mind as much, but not then. yards are yards. no reason they shouldn't have gotten a TD on that possession.

it's only blacked out in southern california -- i'll be at the game but i still have a problem with the blackout extending as far as it does (north of LA)

a recent column about philip kicking the ball the other night:
