are you stacked with outfielders? I have both Zobrist and Carlos Gonzalez

As far as OF, I've got:

BJ Upton
Brett Gardner
Torii Hunter
Johnny Damon
Marlon Byrd

And Carlos Beltran is taking up one of my DL spots right now.

Well...top notch SS's are harder to come by than good outfielders...based on what you've got, I might try to counter something to get even more...ie Zobrist + shit player for Alex, Carlos, somebody else...if he rejects, I would probably hang onto Zobrist

damn did anyone watch any of the Syracuse Buffalo AAA game on Versus? Started at 1:05, Strasburg's final minor league appearance...I just heard that it was going to be televised, roughly 2 and a half hours after it was set to start

ok

5.0 innings, 3 hits, 1 walk, 5 strikeouts, no runs

Should I give up Shields to get Greinke?

As a Greinke owner, I'd trade him away for Shields. He's struggling with his command, his offense gives him no support and even when he does leave with a lead, his bullpen blows it.

Now that Michael Stanton is finally going to get his chance to bash in the big-leagues, I'm trying to figure out who if anyone I should sit for him. My OF consists of Ethier, Heyward, Abreu, Victorino and Pagan. I also have Glaus and Rolen in my Utility spots.

Oh how I love the Astros

Pence + Berkman + Bourn = 0/11, 1 walk, BA .000, OBP .091

WTF. I almost want to veto this.

DROD, you just raped Saps on the most recent trade.

I'd bet my life that Longo/Bay/Wainwright outdoes A-Rod/Pence/Broxton..

the 3B/OF combos could be considered a wash

then you compare a top 5 starter to a top 5 closer

imo

Freakin Carlos Pena. Does nothing for a month then I finally sit him and he blows up for 2 HRs tonight. I want to drop him just for that.

^yeah that bastard is sitting on my bench in one league, just saw he went off today. didnt he do the same thing last month? Hit 2 homers in one game and then didnt do shit until now

^^yeah, I hate to give Broxton away, but I like Wainwright a lot. And like twista just said, the 3B/OF combos are basically a wash, I just personally like Longoria more than ARod. ARod has been on fire for me lately, and Pence is having a top 20 month

7 innings
14 strikeouts

well worth the 18th round pick and the 2 and a half months of AA and AAA

I like to mix things up a little, what can I say. Even if 95% of my trades are rejected, its fun putting them together, and gives me something to do at work

Ok, someone in my league just dropped Denard Span....a speedy OF that can hit for average and score tons of runs, which is what I need (BA, SB, Runs). Who do I drop for him (parentheses indicate where they play on my team right now):

Andre Ethier (OF)
Jason Heyward (OF)
Bobby Abreu (OF)
Shane Victorino (OF)
Troy Glaus (CI)
Scott Rolen (Util)
Angel Pagan (Bench)
Carlos Pena (Bench)
Michael Stanton (OF)
Nick Markakis (Bench)

^ Pagan or Markakis. Neither one is much of an OF fantasy threat. I'd personally drop Pagan because he'll probably start to tail off, but Markakis could still turn it on.

Pagan has value if you have a LF/CF/RF position (rare but some leagues are in depth) but not if it's just OF.

Anyway, I'm having a retarded day. 14 runs, 8 HR, 16 RBI, 3 SB and a .457 average.

So, uh, in the last week I picked up Roy Oswalt and AJ Burnett as free agents.

Roy Oswalt: 3.16 ERA, 1.09 WHIP
AJ Burnett: 3.86 ERA, 1.33 WHIP

Of course, Burnett's numbers aren't GREAT but he plays for a team that gets him W's and they have an EXTREMELY soft June schedule. Oswalt being available is unforgivable. If he gets traded to a team that doesn't play in a bandbox he could be a Top 7 pitcher this year.

Glad I stuck with Reyes and Peavy! Colby Lewis was also nuts today although I am skeptical how long he can keep this going.

^^, ^, haha I traded Kuroda to get Oswalt when he was losing but having quality starts.

I'm having my best week of the season...I'm up 14-0 on the 1st place team in the league (14 total categories)

I only have 7 homers and 4 steals on the week, but my pithcers are 5-1 with 5 saves, 69 Ks and a 0.86 WHIP in 64 innings pitched

I kind of like that trade for you, however, keep in mind Strasburg might have met his limit by the time your playoffs start, whereas Halladay doesn't really have an innings pitched limit

So while I like your value in the short term, when you get to your playoffs and it really matters, I don't know how much Strasburg is gonna pitch

The league yall were dogging because Matt Kemp wasn't a top 5 pick?

Well, Kemp is the 52nd ranked player overall, what value!

Of course only a retard would take an outfielder in the top 5 when thats such a deep position

I'm in 3rd place currently...2nd best record but division leaders get top 2 seeds

Quote :
"Kemp is a top 5 player

Him falling to 16 instantly tells me that league is full of mongloids"

lol, Kemp is not a top 50 fantasy player right now

actually checking back, thats not even my league, that was the league i helped my buddy draft in

Kemp went 8th in my league, not 16th...still WAAAAAAAY to high when guys like Longoria and Cabrera were on the board

[Edited on June 23, 2010 at 2:06 PM. Reason : Doesn't matter where he is right now...in terms of draft day value, he was top 5, top 10 at worst]

ps: picking an outfielder in the first round is a good way to assure that your team misses the postseason all together

Value is everything

If a team takes Eric Bledsoe in the top 5 tomorrow night and he turns out to be the best player in the draft, its still a bad pick

If Washington takes Wall #1 and he's a bust, its still a good pick

Its all about value at that particular slot
