I have mixed feelings considering how great of a regular season we did had. I couldn't stand, however, the constant line combination changes. I am a big fan of chemistry especially when you have the Zach-Travis-Jaime line. Yes, I know all coaches switch things around to get something going, but Lemaire takes it to a whole new level. Perhaps with Calgary's epic failfest Papa Sutter will come back. Hey, I can hope can't I?

The dead puck era is long gone, and it's time for Lou to hire a coach who understands that.

I am unfamiliar with that term. I do, however, feel that the Devils would do well to stick to their system (omg trap!!) with an increased focus on puck possession like they hinted at during this season. Marty's consistency issues need to be ironed out but otherwise the Devils are still a top tier team.

LOL at the irony of a Jacques Martin team taking 2 diving penalties in a game.

i'll continue to pull for the teams that have a great arena atmosphere

with boston winning, that sucks. shitty fanbase.

go habs i guess

though if WSH wins then NBC might blow its load all over the place

WSH/PHI, PIT/BOS.

and the jail part is hilarious

i like how this team that has no fans the past few years now has a better arena atmosphere than boston, and probably detroit too.

If by great arena atmosphere you mean half the crowd is Red Wings fans, then yeah, you're right. Lots of sloppy play in the neutral zone that period.

There have not been that many Red Wings fans in there during the series. It's pretty easy to pick them out in the white out, and there are no more Wings fans there than in any other building in the league I would say.

half the crowd ain't red wings fans, unless they whole upper deck is red wings fans.

yes there's decent amount of red wings fans there but the coyotes fans haven't let them take over.

That 5 on 3 was the dumbest shit I've ever seen. Derek Morris ignoring all of his teammates and trying to pound slap shots from up top like he is Alex Ovechkin, and then Keith Yandle passing up giving the puck to Vrbata for what would have been a layup so that he can take a poor shot from the point.

If Montreal finds a way to win tonight, is it the biggest series upset in NHL history?

Since the league started handing out the President's Trophy, only three winners have lost in the first round:

2000: St. Louis lost to San Jose (point difference in the reg. season between the two teams was 26 points)
2006: Detroit lost to Edmonton (29 point difference)
2009: San Jose lost to Anaheim (26 point difference)
2010: 33 point difference between Washington and Montreal

If you're going just by point differential, then yes. The Caps went 6-5-4 against Canadian teams this season. Against Montreal, the Caps PP unit was 3-17, so this series isn't really that shocking.

Here's the question: win or lose, do the Caps trade Semin for a decent goaltender in the offseason? Nabokov is the only UFA with a solid pedigree and he'll probably sign with SJ for a hometown discount in short order.

Semin's my favorite player. But that would seem to be the most likely scenario.
