I'm guessing TWC still uses foreign call centers for sales, so does anyone know of a US-based sales contact? I'm tired of paying too much for AT&T DSL and I don't think they'll be turning on Fiber in my area. I've never had the coax connected from the box to my house, so I want to ensure that's known and that I don't have to pay for it. I'm also hoping to get them to route it to the side of my house where the other utilities are located (the box is on the opposite side).

Last time I called TWC, I don't think the rep understood any of this.

That's part of what I want to confirm. I'm not willing to pay for that work.

i've had TWC run cable from the street to the house at a couple different places and didn't have to pay, it just takes them a little longer to schedule install and when they do they will run it above ground before coming back some time later to bury

That's what I figured. But I'm wondering if I can make them route it the long route, including under my driveway, to the opposite side of my house. I'm guessing they'll push back.

I would bet money that they'll never do this.

Welp, my internet bill just increased 20%, due to "promotional" rate falling off. Called them, went through the usual routine, but this time they were unwilling to negotiate back down to a lower rate - first time ever I couldn't get them to do it.

They are selling me this BS that I'm already at "extreme" speed or something. I don't need 200 Mbps, I need enough bandwidth to work, and watch Netflix and Amazon. But there really isn't anything in-between. It's either like 3 Mbps, or 200.

I hate TWC. I live in the county so my only other option is CenturyLink which is DSL, and I own my own cable modem so I'm not ready to give up on my own hardware yet.

whats the best way to cancel cable service and keep internet only with TWC? I thought about driving down to the store with my box in hand.

Indeed, they offer 50Mb, 100Mb, 200Mb, and 300Mb. They should be able to knock off $20 a month by taking you down to 50Mb.

Something has definitely changed, b/c I recently renegotiated and they were firm on price and didn't flinch about downgrading service. In the past, it seemed their raison d'etre was to avoid downgrading service.

It's almost as if you're now dealing with Spectrum and not Time Warner

Google and AT&T fiber right outside the house. They will drop some price else I'm ok paying an extra $10 for 10x the performance.

They started fucking with me about the cable price said I was not a new customer and not eligible for promos. I cut if off and signed back up in my wife name. Internet 100mbps 44.99 for 12 months.

I made a Kodi box out of a Raspberry Pi. The good streams only work intermittently as I think they get shut down. I also did the deal with Sling TV where you get $60 off an apple TV with 3 months service prepaid.

Also I saw this promo if you are cord cutting. Direct TV now (basically a sling competitor with more channels for cord cutters) is offering a FREE appleTV with prepaid service. The thing is you do not really need an appleTV..there are many cheaper alternatives that do the same thing but if you want one that is a good way to get it.
https://directvnow.com/appletv

This is the beginning of a shift. The cable companies even recognize it and are working to make their streaming apps better. The days of needing a box for each TV will be gone soon. The new streaming TV providers have a ton of good on-demand content. It is almost to the point it can replace a DVR. The only downside to the on-demand stuff is there are commercials. I do not mine watching a few commercials to save $80-$100 a month.

Also my wife never did notice the cable was cut off despite watching netflix on tv a bunch of times. Someone finally told her at a dinner it was funny as hell. If I had asked first she would have been like hell no.

YouTube TV is pretty great, and you can split it with another household or two

and while I took advantage of both the Sling and DTV Now deals to get free streaming devices, I then got a TCL TV with Roku built in that doesn't need any additional streaming device...so I guess that's where we're headed. Built in Roku seems to be one of the better offerings available, but any TV will have a built in OS to stream the things, and some of the manufacturer specific offerings are getting more mature.

both of my vacation rentals have all RoKu Tvs. They are great, easy to work, and the OS actually gets updates. I dont know why Samsung and LG are so dead set on having their own OS when they stop updating it when the TV is a year old.
