If what is being said is true, she wasn't one of the 6 names on the list and Woodson went out on his own to interview and ultimately hire her.

If you sit back and evaluate things, however, Maryland has had a lot more success while she was AD than we've had in a long time (ACC title in football, mens and womens NCAA basketball championship, womens lacrosse national title for what it's worth).

I'd take this woman over the southeast's AD of the year everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. If you compare their success to ours during Fowler's tenure, ol' Lee can't hold Yow's jock strap.

this is what i heard also and that woodson and yow had lunch the other day which is what turned the hiring of Purcell, which was supposedly a done deal, upside down.

the search committee even suggested to Woodson that he hire Purcell yet all of that was disregarded. i think he is trying to get away from the "good ole boy" network but still... terrible hire IMO. we will probably lose Purcell over this

Stokan and Purcell were the type of guys that could've been big hires down the road. Never had been AD's, but had been very successful managing their own organizations. Both loved State and wanted to win and unite the fanbase as well. I just don't see how Woodson could ever think this will be something the fans could rally behind.

I mean, I don't care that Purcell's butthurt friends are crying about this...but I do care that Maryland's fans are ecstatic. Last time we went down that road it didn't turn out too well. With that said, she's our AD now, so I'll wait until she does something damaging to NC State before I start complaining about it

Regardless of the others that were in consideration, I just don't see how this hire should inspire any kind of excitement or confidence from the fan base. MD's fans were tired of her, just like we were tired of Fowler, and at least MD won a bit with her there. This is extremely similar to the TOB hire.

Purcell has been a huge asset to this university since you were trying to stay in the lines in elementary school, and his fund-raising is second to none, of which I'm sure you have no clue. Not many are up in arms about his being past over. The way it went down is what's going to not sit well with him, being that he likely interviewed while the decision was already made, huge slap in the face if true. The athletic department had better pray he stays.
