You guys are like whiny Red Sox fans bashing the Yankees for buying "too many" good players. Of course, City will have to win the EPL title at least 20 times for that to be a more valid comparison.

They won't win it once, nevermind 20. What fucking planet are you on?

what are the chances that City gets hot halfway through the season and just wins 20 games in a row to end the season?

MANCHESTER CITY SUCCESS STORY

how do they think they're going to get anything near 18 million for a striker who only scored 3 in 13 while ON LOAN?

haha. from The Sun but still funny to read:

Quote :
"Football star Lionel Messi has formed an Oasis tribute act with one of his Barcelona team mates, according to British newspaper The Sun.

In an interview so completely bonkers it just has to be true, Messi said: "Our disguise is based on how Oasis looked in the mid-90s. We have our wigs, clothes and glasses sorted.

"I also spent a lot of time getting the mannerisms right."

Messi performs as Noel Gallagher in the group, and sent out an invitation to the Manchester City-mad songwriter: "We'll visit the UK. If you're at a pub or club where we are performing and see past our disguises there'll be a decent prize in it for you.""

Where will Altidore end up? It's hard to see Villareal not transferring or loaning him out. Ajax could be a possibility if Suarez makes a move, but I think Greece or Turkey may be more likely...

he needs to find somewhere and be stable. hes getting close to being a lost cause with how many times he keeps moving around. history has shown not many players thrive under that kind of environment (and learning/trying to play under different systems), especially young ones.

This describes Adu, not Altidore. Jozy has had mixed results in Europe but he's always contributed to the national team and he performed at a pretty high level in the World Cup. So, there have been some bumps but he's nowhere close to a "lost cause"

Now Adu on the other hand...

Champions League draw was this morning, and it looks as if Spurs got the good end of the draw.

Admittedly, I don't know a whole hell of a lot about those teams outside of Sevilla, but if they can't beat a team named "Young Boys" they don't deserve to be there

YB had Seydou Doumbia, before he went to CSKA, who was being touted as the next Drogba for a while.

2-1 now and Real has been taking over so far in the 2nd half

it's only a matter of time now

[Edited on August 7, 2010 at 11:57 PM. Reason : Ronaldo could have scored 3 times already]

More likely Villareal is just hoping he can up his transfer value with this, and maybe finding the net v Brazil. They aren't going to give him away though.

true

I'd rather he stay and fight for a place with them though. Their manager has said that if he stays, he'll definitely get minutes... but they're in a bit of financial trouble so finances may dictate his transfer

Damn, he just called Wolfsburg the fuck out.

I saw that article recently talking about Diego possibly headed back to Wolfsburg from Juve, so possibly a trade + cash in the works? Sucks for them that they were unable to get both players on the field together.

Juve looks like they managed the market well this year and may have finally gotten a good young core to compete with for a while.

HUUUGGE day for Spurs in Champions League qualifying.

I like that they are playing the first leg in Switzerland just in case the team plays poorly. I'm hoping they come out like they did against City and put this team to sleep early though.

2-0 Spurs

Anyone else with DTV getting Fox Soccer Plus HD for free today? I don't know why, I'm not supposed to... but this is pretty awesome having three CL games in HD.

Also, just use this thread for the CL 2010-2011 I guess?

I actually hadn't considered that when I was running over what happened in my head.

That isn't really an excuse as the entire back line had a miserable day, especially Bassong, though.
