Worst thing they can do is somehow make Voldemort less threatening......

If they start making him weaker after every horcrux is destroyed, it will lessen the ending.

You can't still be surprised at differences between the books and films. They are completely separate animals and the sooner you embrace it, the better the movies become.

i.e. the attack on the Weasley house in HBP.

So I finally watched part 1 of this tonight.

I forgot how boring and emo most of this book was.

^I don't think the book was that emo or boring...the movie just made you remember only those parts.

i am excited to see how the mama weasley vs bellatrix fight looks like in the film, that was one of my favorite parts of the book

The first part of Deathly Hallows was still pretty slow compared to the rest.

i saw OotP the night it came out and haven't seen any of the movies since...

I'm sitting down to watch HBP right now and have DHpt.1 on my netflix for this week...so i'll finally be caught up...

HBP was my favorite book so i'm excited about finally watching the movie

Yeah, the HBP film was low. Worse than OOTP? Nah, nothing was worse than OOTP.

just finished HBP... only disappointment was the climax at the end... i seem to remember there being more destruction and more of a battle... all that happened was snape killed dumbledore, bellatrix blew up the great hall, and then they all walked out with little resistance

right, but if you were the director, would you go through all the trouble to have sick battle scenes in hogwarts in HBP when you're going to turn around and do it again 2 movies later on a grander scale?

just doesn't make sense

^that's exactly the reason I read on IMDB as to why they didn't do it. it makes sense from a movie standpoint... so in that regard, i'm ok with it

I would ruin the movie by following Ron's screwed up relationship with that girl. What a waste.

OOTP was the best!

^^,^^^ I think that is an attempt at excusing laziness. The battle in DH is much bigger and badass than the one in HBP, they didn't have to follow the book exactly but they shouldn't have had everyone just sleep through it either.

Not laziness, but frugality. Easier to film 20 extra Ron and Lavender minutes than spending bank on battles.

That's the way it goes, but I think it will be made up for in the last film.

So Neville has me pretty excited for this one, I didn't realize he was so handsome.

In fact, I think Neville is the best looking out of the cast at this point (limited to men of course, Bonnie Wright and Emma Watson are gorgeous):

The first Harry Potter movie I ever saw was #6

So some dude comes up looking like a stereotypical quarterback, says a few lines, and Hermione was like "Thanks Neville"

I turned to the girl I was with and said "THAT'S supposed to be Neville?!"

One of the problems with picking actors when they are 11 years old for a role that lasts 7+ years I guess.

It really fits with this movie series though, cause Neville is a doofus as a kid (like the actor) and turns all badass for the last one. So, I think the choice in actor actually turned out surprisingly well for him.

Yeah but as far as I could tell he was never supposed to look badass.

The casting for Dudley was also an example of how tough this could be, because he was supposed to be fat for the first 4 movies then turn super buff immediately for the 5th, obviously that didn't work out but I'm surprised they didn't put a lot more pressure on the kid to hit the gym after they finished shooting #4.

^^^If he had a larger role in the movies I'm sure they would have pressured him. Him being buff in the book series isn't critical to the movie, so they probably didn't want to pay more for him to be going about changing much.

it really is amazing how those kids have grown up and changed.

it is also amazing how so many people know them by their "harry potter" name and not their real names. I bet when people go back and ready the books, they picture those actors as well.
They are going to have a hard time (IMO) doing other movies after this one. People will have a hard time seeing them in another role.

Quote :
"Boy did Matthew Lewis grow up! Over the course of the "Harry Potter" franchise, Matthew has turned into a truly good-looking dude. As if we needed another reason to flock to theaters for the final installment, Matt's newly discovered hotness is definitely getting us into the seats, and it's also the reason he's this week's Hump Day Hottie. He may not have won the Harry Potter World Cup, but he did win this accolade!

Check out this dreamy photo of Matthew, and then keep reading for more details about him!

Vital Stats: This 22-year-old grew up in England, obviously, and began acting pretty early on in his life. In addition to being a skillful ac-teur, he also plays rugby for the Leeds Rhinos in the Super League. That may explain that new super-hot physique.

Where you might have already seen him: He's played Neville Longbottom in the "Harry Potter" flicks since day one, but he also has some pre-Potter roles on his resume, including, "Some Kind of Life," "Where the Heart Is," "City Central" and "Heartbeat."

Why you should take notice of him now: This week, the wizarding world of "Potter" comes to an end with the release of the franchise's final film, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2." If you need a primer before then, you should definitely check out Matt being super-hot and super-cute in "American Talk 2" below!"

I talked to a friend who is hooked up and sees advanced-showings, and he's already seen HP7-2. He said he really liked it (means a lot from this guy--he's a fan but he's critical), and we discussed some differences between the movie and the book, but I won't talk about those for a bit. Sadly, he did say not to see it in 3D because of how dark the movie is, and my tickets are for IMAX 3D.

I wont get to see this for a while. I'm taking the bar in 12 days, so it's not exactly in my schedule to take 4 hours off for a movie. No matter that I haven't missed an opening night since the first one came out Stupid law study breaking tradition.
