I like how the whole Liddy arc pretty much amounted to nothing at all. Deb and Quinn are back together and Quinn is back to "I owe you one" with Dexter like he was a season or two back when he kept trying to be friends with him.

I don't know if anyone else got the same impression, but it looked like Dexter's face turned to almost a mad/angry look. I wouldn't be surprised to see him ramping up the number of kills in the future.

^ I'm inclined to agree. Although it tied up loose ends this season it was probably the least dramatic season finale yet. I really expected them to step it up a notch if they wanted fans to stick around for another season.

it wasn't tying up loose ends that bothered me, it was how they did it. The whole Deb/plastic sheet thing was way too easy, Quinn gets off even though there's other evidence pointing that he was clearly involved, Lumen just says, "okay I'm leaving"

I agree that it seems like they didn't know if they'd have another season or they thought they were going to have more episodes in the current one.

The only piece I really took issue with was when Dexter was escaping from Liddy's van and threw the laptop in the water. What, like they wouldn't search the immediate harbor looking for evidence being thrown away (the knife, the surveillance footage, etc.)? Even in a panic, Dexter would have been more careful than that.

^^ It got bashed around a little bit before being thrown in the water, but as long as the laptop was turned off when it got tossed (I don't remember), it's reasonably possible. Also depends on how many data forensics resources the department has at their disposal or how much they're willing to spend on it, but for a dead cop, you'd think they'd at least make the effort.

Of course, we never find out how much of a shit they really gave about Liddy's case, just that Quinn got cleared.

I, too, don't get the hate for the entire season. I thought the dude who played Jordan Chase was damn good, even though he was quite the pussy in the finale. I mean we all expected Dexter to get out of it, but damn that was WAY too easy. I also liked Quinn's role this season because he wasn't as much of a douchebag as he was in the prior season.

I think the finale was just so disappointing, it's altering everybody's view on the entire season and probably the realization that this show is going to be the same ol shit long-term because there will always be a cop out somehow. This show loses its cool factor if you can predict the "twist" in each episode like murdering that dude in the house next door and Deb letting them go at the end.

The writing on this show has gone to shit. Dexter doesn't even uphold his own 'code' anymore. The Miami PD are the most incompetent police force I've ever seen. The finale was so full of holes it was borderline insulting.

Most of the episodes this season were just boring.

I agree, this season was a major disappointment. Producers were saying that this season was going to be a slower one because last season was so fast paced and Dexter needed to recollect. But seriously:

1. a pair of traumatized killers running around murdering people together like Bonnie and Clyde
2. a former cop that amasses damning evidence and still continues to follow even when there is imminent danger
3. the scene where he kills the guy in the warehouse while police are on the scene
4. he wrecks a car that was evidence that they asked him to go check out
5. Quinn just acts like it was a coincidence that Liddy was killed and was so desperate to tell what he knew about Dexter
6. the whole annoying LaGuerta/Angel bullshit
7. the guy that Dexter murders at the boat dock with an anchor in broad daylight with blood everywhere, have you ever been to an unattended boat dock?! guess they just give gas away at marinas in Florida
8. the scene where Liddy sees them dumping bodies. Seriously? he's just a couple hundred yards (if that) from the shore when he does this?

I agree that the only place for the show to go is Dexter getting found out by Deb and/or caught/killed.

Just watched all seasons and finished tonight. http://www.cucirca.com had episodes 3-5 and was able to stream them on the PS3.

Season 4 and 1 were really good. 2 was good, 3 was meh, 5 was not too bad.

I can't believe it's taken this long for me to find out about dexter though!
