well - East Carolina just accepted a bid for the DC Bowl... I'd imagine that you'll see Boston College go there to play them. If GT goes there, that won't even be a game since the Pirates have zero run defense. Maryland also has a shot to go there but I believe they don't want to.

What's the schedule on the bowl selection? After the Championship games I guess? I don't feel like waiting another week

The chic-fil-a bowl could go ahead and say they'd take the loser of the championship game regardless of who it is and that'd allow the other bowls to select who knows what they're doing. If VT loses, believe they'd have to take them but if FSU lost, they'd have a choice between the other 3-4 loss teams

VT is locked into Orange or Peach, depending on whether they win Saturday. 8-0 in the ACC prevents them from slipping below the #2 bowl.

Also, how pathetic is it that the SEC has 5 New Years Day or better quality games while we have 1, arguably 2?

^^^they haven't come out and said that for a reason...

apparently they will strongly consider picking NC State over FSU if FSU loses.

oops. yeah, pretty much what you said...although i REALLY couldnt see Maryland going over us.

The same Maryland who's diehard fanbase bought eight tickets to a bowl game a few years back?

That's eight, not eight hundred. Eight. One less than nine, one more than 7. Eight.

we finished 4th in the acc (behind maryland) but still went to the gator bowl, which i believe took the #2 acc team at that point.

Nice, so with an FSU loss our chances to get a decent bowl looks pretty good? Why does so much of our season hinge on FSU

The longer the announcements don't come out, the better our chances of going to ATL if VT beats FSU.

Otherwise, its likely Tampa or El Paso.

The Chickfila bowl can't just take Florida. They are likely 5th in the SEC pecking order, so they have no idea who will be eligible. It's been suggested MSU might be a more attractive option for them anyway.

Auburn/Arkansas or South Carolina/Auburn are both going to the BCS

Alabama is the most attractive after that, then Florida, then South Carolina/ Arkansas

Of those 4 teams, I don't see how Miss State is taken over one of them for the Peach

The Cotton Bowl takes the best Western Division team and the Outback Bowl takes the best Eastern Division team after the above bowls have filled in. I agree with Miss St/Florida to the Chic/Gator

Bowls don't like having rematches from the regular season. And they will try hard to avoid this. Will not worry about a ECU rematch

We shouldn't accept the first bowl to offer. We should play hard to get and make the bowls compete against each other to win us. If we play our cards right, we could work our way up to the Sugar or Fiesta.

We should probably go on a date with another bowl in a public place and make sure the bowl we want to go to sees us sharing a sundae or fraternizing some fashion. Hook, line, and sinker.

we could show up at the sugar bowl in a bus with all our fans and get out and we start jumping and then along with it go "ooooooooooooo" and get louder like "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH" and then switch to "PACK! PACK! PACK! PACK! OOOOOO PACK! PACK! PACK! PACK! OOOOOOOOOOOO! POWER PACK! POWER PACK! BACK THE PACK!" and then play a loud rockin rap song or somethin. i think it would get things crazy.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/terrapins-insider/2010/11/friedgen_yow_and_orlandos_cham.html
Quote :
"Friedgen, Yow and Orlando's Champs Sports Bowl

On one side you have Ralph Friedgen advocating for his overachieving Terrapins and their compelling redemptive narrative. On the other side you have Debbie Yow advocating for her Wolfpack and its legions of loyal, will-travel-for-bowl followers.

Perhaps a fitting conclusion to the season.

Less than a week until official bowl announcements are made, interested parties are making final well-argued pitches for their respective teams. For the ACC, the pivotal bowl in the selection process appears to be Orlando’s Champs Sports Bowl, which has the third selection after the Orange Bowl and the Chick-fil-A Bowl presumably pluck from the ACC title game participants.

How the Champs Sports Bowl goes will largely determine how several, if not all, of the remaining ACC dominos fall. And the Champs Sports Bowl’s decision likely will come down to Maryland vs. North Carolina State, an appealing story vs. an appealing fan base.

“We’re deserving of going to a top-tier bowl,” Friedgen said.

“Our fans are faithful and travel well,” N.C. State AD Debbie Yow told the Charlotte Observer. “They have proven that.”

N.C. State (8-4) likely would bring more fans; Maryland has traveled well earlier this decade to bowl games, but the Terrapins have struggled mightily to fill their stadium this season. Only 35,000 turned out for the regular season finale, albeit on a chilled, windy afternoon.

Maryland (8-4) has the advantage on the field, having beaten N.C. State 38-31 in the regular season finale. The Terrapins are a team on the rise, seemingly improving each week, win or lose, and feature standouts in QB Danny O'Brien and WR Torrey Smith.

Notre Dame (7-5) is the likely opponent for the ACC representative in Orlando because the Irish will be within two games of the eligible Big East team and is allowed to be selected by the bowl once every four years.

That’s important because, as one bowl executive told me, given Notre Dame’s fan base and brand name, its opponent is less important, meaning Maryland’s attendance concerns would be diminished if Notre Dame is the opponent. In short, the Irish fans will do their part to make sure the stadium is filled regardless of opponent.

After Orlando’s selection, the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, will have to decide among Miami and other ACC teams. Miami (7-5) is the ultimate wild card because of the school’s decision to fire Coach Randy Shannon late Saturday night following the close of an underwhelming regular season. Still, Miami has broad appeal.

"Miami is Miami," Sun Bowl chairman John Folmer told the Palm Beach Post. "We're in El Paso (Texas) and the opportunity to get a University of Miami doesn't come along very often."

After the Sun Bowl, comes Charlotte’s Meineke Car Care Bowl. Clemson is the favorite, but Maryland remains in contention.

Then comes Nashville’s Music City Bowl, which likes a potential North Carolina-Tennessee matchup. After that is the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La., where Georgia Tech had been pegged. And then comes the Military Bowl in D.C., which remains hopeful of landing Maryland despite a slew of developments late Saturday that reduced the likelihood of that scenario."

Honestly if Maryland falls all the way to the Military bowl, that really sucks for them. Yeah it is a closer game, but to fall to essentially the last bowl is a slap in the face when you finished 3rd in the regular season.

Ya'll are crazy. Not only would I totally hit that, but her videos look 10x better than some of the others. The last one by Andy Katz looked like he filmed it in some closet. If it weren't for some ESPN producer going over it and putting highlights over it, the thing wouldn't have even passed for a high school assignment.
