I was watching the Mariners game and they said that they drafted 26 pitchers and 9 catchers...crazy! but its 50 rounds!

just add 2 more teams to the AL. 32 teams, 4 4 team divisions like football. throw another team in canada, and the other in... mexico

also, since there's no Royals thread, Mike Moustakas hit his first career HR in his 2nd game. Might be a pretty good player some day.

^ The Royals have some very good young players on their current roster and a couple of top notch prospects in the farm system right now. If they can keep that together for a few years they will be a serious contender in the 2013-14 seasons. They are looking a lot like the Indians of the mid-late 90's the way they're building their team.

There is nothing admirable about what the Royals are doing. They are a badly run organization, much like the Pirates. People praise the Rays but sucking ass for 15 years to have a few good seasons isn't what it's all about.

The Twins are the model small market franchise IMO, despite this year.

The if they can keep it together in my statement was the key. Seeing he moves KC has made over the last 15-20 years does not bode well for them doing that.

Comparing the Pirates and Rays by the way is not a fair comparison at all. The Rays have come into existence as a franchise and made multiple playoff trips including an AL banner since the last time the Pirates had a .500 record. Building a franchise from the ground up to compete with two of MLB's deepest wallets in less than 15 years is no small feat. It remains to be seen if they can maintain it, but for now, they've kept it rolling for longer than most thought they would when they first started to become competitive.

As for the Twins, you can't really argue with what they've done over the last decade. Injuries have really crippled them so far this season though. But there is still a long way to go.

LOL at the Marlins. This is how you go from 2nd place to last in a matter of 3 weeks:

Wed. 1 @ Ari L 5-6 31-23 Putz Hensley 16,169
Fri. 3 Mil L 5-6 31-24 McClendon Nunez Axford 15,315
Sat. 4 Mil L 2-3 31-25 Gallardo Volstad Axford 17,204
Sun. 5 Mil L 5-6 31-26 Dillard Dunn Axford 13,208
Mon. 6 Mil L 2-7 31-27 Greinke Vazquez 12,404
Tue. 7 Atl L 0-1 31-28 Hanson Hand Kimbrel 13,302
Wed. 8 Atl L 2-3 31-29 Kimbrel Dunn Linebrink 14,626
Thu. 9 Atl L 2-3 31-30 Jurrjens Volstad Venters 16,613
Fri. 10 Ari W 6-4 32-30 Sanchez Saunders Cishek 18,888
Sat. 11 Ari L 5-9 32-31 Kennedy Vazquez 25,321
Sun. 12 Ari L 1-5 32-32 Hudson Hand 16,353
Mon. 13 Ari L 9-12 32-33 Owings Nolasco Putz 15,065
Tue. 14 @ Phi L 1-9 32-34 Hamels Volstad 45,424
Wed. 15 @ Phi L 1-8 32-35 Kendrick Villanueva 44,758
Wed. 15 @ Phi L 4-5 32-36 Madson Dunn 45,880
Thu. 16 @ Phi L 0-3 32-37 Lee Vazquez 45,628

The whole damn NL East is playing very well (except obviously the Marlins) with the Phillies winning 7 straight, the Nats 6 straight, the Braves winning 7 out of 9, and the Mets playing well despite last night. The two eastern divisions continue to set the standards for each league.

Johnson is taking longer than predicted to return from the DL, Oswalt's back could be career-threatening, Sanchez is falling apart and now is on the DL, Lohse has been atrocious lately in terms of giving up the long ball.

Well, see you next year fantasy baseball

they just said on the broadcast of the phillies/redsox game that in the month of june cliff lee has driven in more runs than he's allowed. that is absolutely amazing. cliff lee this month has been a one man team, almost literally.

And 2 games out in the L column from the division lead. The two best records in the NL are in the East and the 3 best records in the AL are in the east.

And like I said in the other thread since the Mets 5-13 start, on April 20th, the Phils/Braves/Mets have the three best records in the NL.

You think the rest of the team will just lose all hope and tank epically when they trade Reyes in three weeks, or will they keep running on fumes for another month after he's gone and stay above .500

They aren't going to trade him. Not saying they'll re-sign him but they'd just take the draft picks at the end of the year. Now it would NOT surprise me to see both Beltran and K-Rod gone since they can't get picks for them. Won't get high value, but won't get nothing either.

I can imagine Mets management trying to swing a deal for prospects with the intent of re-signing Reyes in the offseason. That of course would never work because lol Mets.
