It doesn't really reflect my playlists but rather what I listen to most at work. I mostly use Spotify for work listening so I think it tailors it to what I listen to most rather than what my playlists are.

It gives a weight to the bands you listen to the most then find playlists that have your "heavy weighted bands". Then it determines which songs on those playlists you haven't listened to and recommends them. It's a simple idea that uses user generated playlists as the central recommendation concept.

Spotify not working for anyone else today?

I started it up and it kept telling me it had no internet connection (despite there being one). I uninstalled/reinstalled it and now it won't let me login.

"Service is temporarily unavailable. Error Code: 2"

tried to use spotify more the past couple months but I'm just not feeling the Discover Weekly thing. I think part of it is just the way I use spotify. I tend to use spotify for streaming stuff that i'm 'checking out' or streaming albums I don't feel like actually purchasing. And the albums/artists I like the most I am still purchasing. So my recommendations don't tend to be very strong. That probably has more to do with the way I'm using it than their method though.
