Is there a comprehensive list of the food trucks and their websites operating in Durham? I looked at one that had a food truck "tracking" system on their website but it worked terribly. 11/7/2011 2:18:50 PM |

Klausies isn't horrible, but not worth the price IMO. And all they really do is bake a bunch of cheese pizza and sprinkle random things on top right before they hand it to you. I think someone already said it a few pages back, but the owner seems like a real douche.
and this thread always seems to get bumped on Bulkogi day 3/22/2012 11:22:16 AM |

There's a food truck rodeo this Sunday at Durham Central Park. Has anyone been to the rodeos out there before? I don't want to go if there's going to be hour lines for food.

the only food truck i've tried is klausie's pizza. there was an event at fred fletcher park, which is really close to where i live, so i decided to walk over and give it a try.
a little overpriced, but i think that's to be expected with food trucks for the most part. i won't say the pizza was bad, but it definitely wasn't out of this world. like the user above said, they seem to just bake all plain cheese, sprinkle the toppings on, then maybe heat it up again. my biggest complaint is that it wasn't served hot enough, and was also really messy. if i wasn't at home where i could wash my hands and get extra napkins, i would have been in trouble.
i do like the food truck concept as a whole, and would definitley try a different one if the opportunity comes up again. but going to some spot where they all congregate just to try the food? no thanks. it's all about convenience. 6/15/2012 12:12:14 PM |

I went out to the rodeo today and everything I had was pretty good.
Only Burger was amazing I had the Juicy Buns from Chirba Chirba, but I needed to get some of the sauce they had available. The dumplings by themselves were kinda plain Pie Pushers was alright, but I would have been better off getting Klausies I think. The Nutella and banana crepe from Parlez Vous Crepe was pretty awesome. I finsihed with a cherry Kona Ice which was as good as I expected.
This was my first time out there so I know I need some lawn chairs. I got there around 11:45 and some trucks weren't set up to serve just yet but I'm glad I did get there early. By 1:00 the lines were getting pretty wild.

Yeah we got there at 11:30 and I'm so glad we did. Sat up our chairs under the shade and was the first customer at Klausie's. Also hit up the grilled cheese place, the pretzel place, The Parlor, and one of the pasta trucks before lines got ridiculously long. Next time I'll go to Chirba Chirba first. That was easily the longest line there by the time we left. 6/17/2012 3:45:59 PM |

Chirba Chirba didn't open until closer to 12:30 and they had a good line going before they even opened.
I'm glad I spent 5-10 minutes in the pre-opening line or I would have been waiting much longer.

Has anyone tried Porchetta RDU yet? My best friend runs it and the sandwhiches they make are awesome.

Gussy's Greek Street Food Truck
This is probably the best thing I've ever had off a food truck. Hand cut Greek fries (garlic, lemon, oregano, sea salt) with feta cheese and a lamb gyro - they cut the meet off the spit to order. tzatziki on the side for fry dipping
Working in RTP has its perks - namely that our office complex and several others have daily food trucks and you can always find something amazing within walking distance or a 5 minute drive.
