My only gripes with this week's episode were:

Travis forgets to lock the back entrance to the basement? I'd be fine if it was padlocked and Dexter forced his way through, but to just have it unlocked? And why didn't Dexter try that earlier while Travis was standing right there?

How the heck did Travis track down the boat so much more quickly than Dexter?

Other thoughts:

More evidence this week leading me to believe that Louis will find out who Dexter really is (lingering shots of dexter's computer search engine at work) and give him a motive (failed move to impress Dexter with his game) for confrontation. This is more interesting to me right now than the Doomsday Killer storyline. I'm thinking that if Louis finally makes his move we only get a tease at the end of the season finale.

i love how you all are soooooooooooooo bored with this show, but yet still watch it every week and still log on here every week to complain about the storyline, character development, whatever. if you dislike the show that much, just stop watching.

This season started off really slow and I was wondering, what have they done to the show. However after getting this far into it I can finally see why. They are building a lot of new relationships in the show, for example: Deb and Psych, Sgt. Batista and Quinn, Dexter and God (that went to "hell"), Batistas' Sister and Louis, Deb and LaGuerta (especially around the cover up murder) and the classic always reshaping between Deb and Dexter.

Not only that but they managed (like always) to bring in the big guns on the last 3-4 Episodes. The next episode preview looks better than anything I've seen in a while, except maybe when Dexter's wife died and Deb was screwing Dexters' serial killer brother and then he tried to kill her. Or maybe the whole Lumen thing, haha. The series is awesome overall and so it this season, but it had me wondering where the real killing was coming back.


BTW who wants to take bets that LaGuerta is a lesbian?

Travis is INSANE, I don't know if you caught that or not. He just figured it out in his own mind/world when Dexter told him he killed the professor that he was actually dead and that he had killed him. I don't think someone like that is running around the church making sure every exit is locked. Yes the preview made it look like he was stuck (preview before the recent episode), but Dexter too the only way out that was possible and it's not like he just walked through it.

Big deal, if anything Deb needs to either die or somehow be changed, a lot. She is kind of annoying and it is sort of hard to watch the show with anyone in the room who doesn't like cussing. She cusses to the point where it sounds stupid, but maybe the psych will stop this.

I'll never understand this complaint. Does it affect your enjoyment of the show if there's somebody else who doesn't like it? I've stuck through 5 seasons of this show, I'm going to see it out until the end, even if it means reading a book off and on during each episode. My wife is going to have it on anyways so I might as well watch it.

This kinda feels like season 5 of 24 when the nerve gas got released in CTU and Edgar died.

Along those lines, somebody's gonna die. Battista? Deborah? Quinn? Id say if done right, a Battista or Deborah kill could be just as epic as Rita's death. I could totally see them killing off Deb; if I had a supporting role in a show with my ex-husband as the star I'd want to get out of it sooner than later.

There's a lot of story arcs to be finished up in this season, more than usual for a typical Dexter season it feels like. This last episode was a great set-up episode for the rest of the season, I can't wait!

And for the record, I like this season. It's dark, gory, juxtaposed, and developed better than seasons three and five.

Merely pointing out small gripes IMO. Putting myself in that position I would have checked for other ways in/out of the basement first thing. Dexter listens to Travis talking to imaginary Gellar outside the basement window for a good five minutes and then finds an escape within seconds only to spend the next couple of days hunting him down again.

I have a few theories about the next couple of episodes:

1) Quinn was late to the house, but in the preview for next week you see him busting in through a door in the house that is on fire. So I think he saves the day, but will probably get shit-canned for being late and putting his partner, Bautista, in danger.

2) I think that they will probably kill off Travis in this episode, setting up a bigger reveal storyline for the finale.

3) Dexter's voice is going to be on that 911 call. Someone is going to recognize that. There's no way that doesn't come back to bite him.

there were 2 doors, a cellar door from the outside, and then another door at the bottom of the steps into the basement. The door at the bottom of the steps was locked from the inside, makes perfect sense for the outside one not to be locked up, he wasn't expecting to have to trap anyone down there, just keep people out. Dexter didn't start looking around and find the door until Travis ran off and he needed a way out

The show may not be as good as it once was, but I am still very much enjoying it,

Well at the elevator he said to dexter that he's done sitting on the sidelines playing make believe with video games. His video game was about serial killers. This would seem to indicate he is going to become a serial killer. He'll most likely/hopefully be the Big Bad next season.

an episode or two back, Deb mentioned in one of her sessions with the psychologist that Dexter and the Ice Truck killer were brothers. Did they ever show her finding out about that? I would have sworn that Dexter was able to keep that under wraps during that season.

I suspect they're going to play off Dexter being in the painting by having the cops think that Dexter was targeted due to him stopping the attack on the police station.

They have Dexter do some pretty stupid things sometimes considering how intelligent they make him out to be. But this episode may have taken the cake. He sent a video message of himself to a killer that has the police on him and now has homeland security as well. I mean, if they catch him and look at what's on the phone, Dexter can't explain that one away easily. At best, it would mean that he had the guy's phone number and didn't share it with the police.
