The new american T110, the weak point is the R2D2 commanders hatch (supposidly).

The m103 seems to have shit armor from the stats, but in playing it it seems like its very very very hard to pen from the front. Most penetrating shots hit the "cheeks" of the turret.

The new american gun is sporadic in its penetration, which is a downside. the t34 had a lower pen gun, but seemed more consistent.

Bought my Jagdpanther today. YAY! Also got Binoculars, Camo, and Vents for it. Retrained my Hetzer crew so 3/5 guys (Commander, Gunner, Reloader) are at 90% with 53% secondaries. I messed up retraining my Driver though and accidentally did the free retraining instead of paying 20k credits for advanced training, so he's at 80% with 53% secondary . Also had to train a Radioman from scratch, so he's at 75% with no secondary.

I'm listening to the WoT soundtrack at work.

I'm pretty much grinding full speed towards the IS-4 in preparation for the tree split, and I'm only about 40k xp away from researching it, but I'm still about 2.5 mil from buying it, or 1.2 mil if I sell the IS-3, which I'm hesitant to do as I enjoy playing it. Of course, this is one of my busiest weeks so far this semester, but hopefully I'll have more free time soon

Pardon the double post, but I splurged this evening and ran the IS-3 a bit, and I have to say, I had some kickass rounds!

Personal favorite is my last one, where I started northside on Ensk as top tank. I went into the city, as is normal for top heavies in this map, and rounded a corner to see the enemy IS3 all of 50 meters away rounding the opposite corner. Sure enough, I let off a shot, and *BAM* I ammo-racked him! 1500hp->0hp, just like that

I then went on to destroy a KV, IS, T34, and two Lowes for a total of 1,319xp (non-doubled) and 39,000 credits, after taking only 18hp damage and a broken track such that I paid 509 in repairs. I had to quit after this so I didn't go out on a low note, but I'm now down to around 30k xp for the IS4!

I lost 10 games in a row because I kept having the most idiotic team. The one that pissed me off the most was the match on Malinovka when I was in my IS. We had 2 Lowe, 2 KV-3, and a T-29. I suggested at the 11:00 mark we charge. Sure enough, we lost the rest of our team on the hill and were outnumbered 12:7 at this point (we still had an arty, SU 8 or some other SU of some sort). We agreed it was best since most of the enemy were at the hill. 11:00 strikes. we all say attack....

Guess who was the only one to push...

So yeah, 1/4 way across the field, I notice no one is moving. I get hit 4 times in less than a second HP went from 100% to 75hp. I said fuck it, and made it nearly 3/4 of the way there. My teammates? Still sitting there... I think one of the Lowe's was able to get a shot or too off from his sniper's hole. I was all rawr rawr rawr and they were all like. LOL NOOB, you never rush mid >_< God i was so pissed.

But I ended with an epic KV3 run on Mines. I was pissed from my bad luck streak and declared that I was going to create havoc on the enemy team. I went straight for the middle hill, taking on a Tiger and two PzIII/IV on my own. Oh god i was angry. I had no support, but managed to take them all out with 208/870 hp remaining. We won that round, despite my team being overconfident and doing suicide runs one at a time into the enemy base after I won the hill. I was awarded top gun and sniper, 16/17 shots were hits, receiving 22 hits myself. The KV3 turret armor really saved me against those PzIII/IV.

I wish I had the time to get myself an IS4. Looks like I'll never be able to catch up to Dom and his god-like prowess. I can't wait until i get the upgraded 88 for the Jadgpanther too. I have such great hopes for it.

Hah, god-like prowess? Nah, I'm just only playing the IS-3 and letting the rest of the tanks collect dust until that IS-4 has a space in my garage

Oh, and good lord, don't look at the timestamp on this post - I hate MAE306 lab reports so much right now.

Well... Nothing about my JagdPanther is any different in comparison to the JagdpIV. If anything, it's slower in every aspect, but it does have a much wider gun rotation, which I am loving. Currently, it has the Jagdpiv's old 88mm, which is very lacking in pen. But I've had some really good runs with it thus far. MM likes putting me in top tier every round, for some odd reason. Could just be the time of day... 10k xp away to getting the "awesome" 88mm.

35k xp more until IS3. Le Sigh.

Awesome - free day of premium for the 1yr anniversary of the release of WoT! Put in the code: TANKSBDAY to get 24hr of premium on your account, valid today and tomorrow I believe. Looks like this will be awesome for helping me finish the IS-4 grind! I've only got ~12k XP left to go anyways, but I could definitely use the boost in credit earnings, as I've got plenty of cash to earn still.

Free premium and x5 helped me research the IS4, and I also managed to get the S-51 through the KV, taking it to elite status! Now I've got 2.2mil in the bank, and I plan on keeping the IS-3, so I'm going to have to sell one of my vehicles, which will probably be the T25AT. I'm actually tempted to sell the GW Panther in exchange for the S-51, as I think I'd enjoy the huge damage the S-51 brings, but I'm not sure yet. Any suggestions?

http://wiki.worldoftanks.com/Battle_Mechanics#Calculating_Spotting_Range

I REALLY suggest reading the entire article. But, here are some MAJOR key points that I feel is very important to understand for every tanker:

Penetration
For AP shells:
-At 100m - gun has 100% penetration (+/- 25% random)
-At 500m - approx -20% to -25% to it's penetration value (varies based on the exit velocity of the shell from the gun).

With distance, from 100m to 500m, penetration degrades linearly.

HE ammunition penetration is not affected by distance.

Accuracy

The accuracy value for a gun is given in meters at a range of 100m. The value describes 2 standard deviations s from the center of your aim. In other words, for a gun with 0.32m effective accuracy at 100m, 95.45% of all shots will land within 0.32m of the center of your aim at that distance.

The aiming circle, also called dispersion circle or dispersion indicator, is 1.5 times bigger and describes an area of 3 standard deviations s from the aim point. That means for 0.32m effective accuracy at 100m your aiming circle's outer diameter is 0.96m at 100m, or 3.84m at 400m.

Spotting
Rate of Visibility Checks You will not necessarily spot an enemy tank as soon as you have line of sight on it. The rate of visibility checks is limited as follows:

*within 50 m range - every 0.1 sec
*within 150 m range - every 0.5 sec
*within 270 m range - every 1.0 sec
*within 445 m range - every 2.0 sec

The rate limitation on visibility checks means that it is entirely possible that a hidden tank moves out of cover right after a visibility check, shoots you, and returns back into cover right before the next visibility check, thus never getting spotted and staying hidden.

No camouflage bonus is provided by:

*Fallen trees
*Player tanks (dead or alive)
*Grass
*Camouflage patterns you can buy in game for gold or rent for credits
*Anything else

-As long as you are outside of 445m maximum spotting range you do not need to worry about camouflage, you will be invisible to the enemy team regardless of what you do.

-Bushes or standing trees within the 15m diameter become transparent to your view. This helps you determine your distance from them.

-As soon as you fire your gun, the camouflage bonus provided by transparent objects in a 15m radius around your tank is reduced to 30% of the original value. Objects furter away are unaffected. To maximize your use of camouflage bonus provided by your environment, do not sit inside of bushes while you fire, instead sit more than 15m behind one or even several bushes

Environment camouflage bonuses stack, but special rules apply when firing your gun:

In the illustration, each bush provides the same environment camouflage bonus X. Since these bonuses stack, tank 1 has an environmentCamo value of 3 * X.

As soon as tank 1 fires its gun, the environment bonuses within the 15m radius NO longer stack.

Instead, only the bonus from the bush with the highest camouflage bonus is taken into account.

In addition, the bonus from that bush is reduced to 30% of its original value, so 0.3 * X. Bonuses from environment outside of the 15m radius stack as usual. Thus, while firing tank 1 has an environment camouflage bonus of 0.3 * X + X = 1.3 * X.

You will always spot any vehicle that comes within 50m of you, regardless of line of sight.

View Range

Note that unlike what the in game description of the view range enhancing equipment indicates, there is no 500m limitation. View range is unlimited.

The better your view range, the better your spotting range, at any range.

7.3 Tank Specs Preview:

YAY, KV-3 Gets the Awesome D-25T 122mm as the IS, but the 107mm STILL has more damage/minute due to the increased fire rate. Accuracy is practically identical. The 107mm has 9mm less penetration on average. A shot bounced/dinged might as well be counted as a shot not even taken, thus giving the D-25T 122mm a greater potential to do more damage/minute than the 107mm against heavily armored targets. It's a tough call... I love both guns.

I've already gotten to toy with the armor a bit and I think I'm really going to like it - especially with the new turret soon. The side armor definitely seems bouncier than the side armor of the IS3, and since the front is a standard squared-off glacis (i.e. no pike like the IS3), I can turn the tank nearly 45 degrees to improve my slope and pretty much bounce anything! Even better is that when I do that, it tempts them to go for the side armor, and I can wiggle a little based on their aim to make sure I squeeze out that bounce.

It definitely seems like I can cause a bounce if I want to, whereas the IS3 was more luck-of-the-draw, but I'm really looking forward to an impenetrable turret and huge gun

^ LOL fantastic!! Hetzer is an amazing tank. It is actually what made me fall in love with the TD line. I don't know if you have the Stug III yet, but that tank is even better IMO. It's very nimble, accelerates very well, and even you can mount the 105mm from the Hetzer on it. I much prefer the 75 mm StuK 42 L/70, though. I was able to flank a Ferdinand the other day and take it out with ease in my Stug III. By far one of my favorite tanks, with the KV-3 tied for second with my Jagdpanther (though it will be dropped to 3rd after I get the Ferdinand).

I am a bit biased, but I love the german TD line, though the Jagdpiv and jagdpanther leave more to be desire when it comes to armor. The upgraded 88 is nice for its tier in the jagdpiv. Be sure to carry 10-15 HE for those times you get thrown in matches vs T8 and T9, or the occassional KV5 or Lowe. I know the hellcat is fast, but the lack or armor scares me, though its big gun is something to scare others with hit and run tactics...

So. If you like to camp and snipe from 350m+ behind bushes, Jagdpiv. If you like hit and run tactics, hellcat.

I used http://1stcav.net/ for the sig. Pretty cool

I haven't played in a while... Got some good rounds in. I sniped a T-50 running full speed perpendicular to me 400 yards away with my IS. I know it's often foolish to even consider taking a shot, but damn it feels great when you get a little lucky and land one and the enemy screams "WTF?! Where did that shot come from!?!" lol.

I've got over 35k xp in my KV3 to be applied to the research of the KV4 upon the release of the patch. Nearly have the IS in elite status. I think I need 6k more xp to finish researching one of the guns (88mm iirc) and then it'll become Elite.

I've been working way too much lately to bother playing. I can't wait for my new computer build to be finished so that I can enjoy the wonderful graphics WoT has to offer... It sucks being stuck with 16-35 FPS with everything on low.

Huge fan of the new IS-8/IS-4, and haven't really touched the rest of my tanks as a result I now have two open slots as a result of the split, so I really need to grind some cash and buy my researched T-28 TD, Patton, or AMX 13 90. However, all my playing of Tier VII/IX/X Russian heavies isn't really productive in the credit grinding area, so I'll have to let them sit idle for a while if I expect to get anywhere.

Right now for cred grinding im using the t34 as well as the pz iv, I wish i could find another tank like the panzer iv. Its got a quick firing laser sharp gun, decent armor, and just all around fun to play. I've got tank mastery on that sucker, I'm really considering grinding up the panther tree because of it.

Ok, so, I'm trying to grind to the KV-1, and I'm in the T-28, and I'm sucking at this. I die so fast, and almost never kill anyone.

Can someone give me some advice on how not to be awful at this??

T-28 was actually a fun tank for me. Get the fast firing 57, it has Great penetration and low damage. At the teirs youll be in, you can use your speed to get places quickly, get used to popping off a few shots then moving, even at distance you can do a lot of damage.

Also, dont screw around with heavy tanks unless you have to, let the PZIV/KV1 and M4 deal with anything to leery, the T-28 is fast enough to get out of there and find weaker opponents.

^ This. Using the t-28's speed to flank many of my enemies helped not only my survival (because guns weren't pointed at me), but my allies as well. Don't be afraid to avoid conflict with an HT, slip by him, and go after more precious targets, like artillery or even base camp.

I got the IS3 a couple days ago. It's not bad overall. I've probably bounced just as many critical shots as I have been blown up. Not having the BL9 is holding me back, a lot. Part of me wishes that I went with the KV4 instead, but I'll get one eventually.

I'm really hurting on money and need a cash grinder. I might start grinding the medium tiers soon, or perhaps start on my AMX 12t and work my way to the other quick AMX scouts. Don't get me wrong, I love my Stug III and it averages a decent $15k on wins. But I want to have more flexibility when I flank (ie: turret). I think I my options are M18, AMX 12t, or start the German MT line. I have the PzIII already researched. I'd have to start "grinding" with the Pz II(t) if I wanted to go down the other MT line to get the PzIV.

Maybe I should go for an E8 instead? IDK

Oh and I finally got my new computer up and running... Let me tell you, there's nothing more exciting than when your FPS>ping. Before I averaged 20fps, as low as 9fps in graphic intense situations... :/ I've missed many shots because of this. Now, no more.

So I forgot to mention. MM was pretty brutal yesterday... In one match, there were 5 type 59s on the other team. They slaughtered so many of us it wasn't funny. Very well organized.

In another match, it was a pretty epic run by my team. Only once before have I seen a 15:0 match. What's worse than a 15:0 match? How about a 14:-1. I actually saw a damaged T-50 (~60% hp) strafe in front of his T-32 teammate as he fired... Wrong place wrong time

My all time favorite tank in the game is currently the PIV with the long gun. (Its the only tank I currently have a mastery badge in)

Its got a really nice gun for a t5, it has decent manuverabliltiy, a god like turret, and it can penetrate almost anything.

I tend to sit back and wait for targets to appear, you have a great fast firing accurate gun. Just choose your weak points and start ripping enemys apart. I don't understand why it does not get more play time.

The m4 is okay, but you dont have the penetration (more manuverable) the KV with the 107 is well the KV with the 107, but you loose soo much manuverability it hurts.

So here's a Tier 5 comparison chart I mocked up from the wiki. Basically I have the "upgraded" stats for these tanks.

So... The Pz III/IV is less than half the price of the vk2801, but essentially the "same" tank. The VK2801 is superior to the Pz III/IV, as you can see, in top speed, acceleration (hp/weight ratio), view range, and transverse. These things are essential for a great scout tank, and possibly even flanker.

So the real comparison, (for me), is the vk2801 or the Pz Iv. I'll just have to try both out and find out what suits my style better. I like the turret armor on the Pz IV, but speed is a huge bonus on the Vk2801, as is the option to mount the 105mm for derp power.

I've got the PzIII, Vk1602 Leopard, and Pz38 nA. I so badly want to ditch the PzIII once I research the PzIII/IV. Leopard would be a nice tank, only I cheaped out and got 50% crew, which is REALLY hurting the tanks performance... and... well... I can't wait to get the PzIV.

I still have my PzII. It's a hellavu fun tank, especially with the Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew *reload* Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew *reload* Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew *reload* Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew Pew *reload*

No, still the 122 mm D-25T. I'm about 13k xp away from the BL9 though.

I was top tier in the game, which helped a lot. The game was quite interesting with me going from attack, to defense and taking on two lower tier tanks on my own who made it to our base while the rest of my team was in theirs, then back to offense trying to save my remaining 2 or 3 teammates who were a bit outclassed.

I didn't TRY to "steal" kills from my teammates, though I understand that's what it looked like. At one point, we were 5-0 and I had all 5 kill. I tried to shoot as fast as possible, with one exception against a T34/T32.

I started saving my replays too so that I could watch, review, and improve my gameplay. I should send you the replay to watch. I thought it to be pretty exciting

I'm getting the hang of bouncing shots off with the IS3. It's pretty fun actually though it takes some skill. Very different coming from a KV lineup where you just take hits like a boss. The IS3 is growing on me...

Oh my god. I love the AMX 12t, and I know it's no where near as good as the AMX 13-75 or AMX 13-90!!! Fits my run and gun play style like a GLOVE.* Day one and within 10 battles I managed Ace Tanker. I flanked a Pershing** by myself and just about destroyed it! (From ~1300hp to 200hp).

*I've got bigger hands than most, so the glove is kinda tight. I'm sure once I upgrade a size or two, I'll have something that'll fit me perfectly. SWIDT?

**Pershing tanker obviously sucked to allow himself to get trolled by an AMX 12t, regardless, I almost got away with murder.

Full notes on revisions for 7.4 are out, but I wanted highlight some key revisions:
http://worldoftanks.com/news/1319-version-74-public-test/

*Now Repair Kit fixes both tracks, if they are both damaged.

*Added the option of training skills and perks for combined qualifications of crew (for example, training perks and skills of Radio Operator, when a Commander combines qualifications of a Commander and Radio Operator).

*Added compensation to a team hit player, proportionate to the damage caused.

Also, thought I'd update the list:

Players List: (* are fully upgraded tanks)
Nighthawk - NighthawkCMP (KV-3*, KV*, SU-85*, SU-8*, T-34*, Pz III, Pz38t)
jcdomini - Dominico092

roguewarrior - gambit61
JBaz -
RedGuard -
Mr. Joshua -
Spar -

I was killing it today, though my teammates' skills have been lacking. I've been placed on some of the shittiest teams ever. One match, I prevented over 200 capture points in my IS3, yet, my team STILL failed to capture or destroy the remaining enemy. Another match on mines, I managed 7 kills in my KV3 and we lost 8-15 as I was the last to die. I even went heads up against a 100% HP Tiger when I had 2/3 hp remaining. My team just keeps failing me

I forgot to mention that I killed my first Maus in my JagdPanther yesterday. It was glorious. I happened to roll up about 15meters away on it's right side as it stormed the field on Malinovka and scored a clean penetrating shot.

Just had an epic round in the IS-3 that very well may have placed me strongly in the MVP competition that's currently active! I was playing Swamps starting from the southwest (non-castle) side (Team I), and I slowly worked forward on the south flank through the edge of the swamp, taking out 7 tanks and receiving 15 hits, giving me my necessary steel wall for submission to the MVP competition. In addition, I had a KICKASS team who was kind enough to let me have the necessary invader and also not kill off the last IS, so I got my submission in! We'll see how it plays out, but I'm feeling some gold coming my way!

In the end, I had 7 kills, yielding 1103XP (Score of 110.3 for the MVP competition), Boetler's Medal, Steel Wall, Top Gun, and Invader! So pumped!
