The receding hairline was a prosthetic. The fat looked real.

I really enjoyed watching the newer episodes. It started off slow for me, but once I caught on that they were just pieces to a larger story arc it came together for me. I'd like to watch the first few episodes again to see if I can pick up on anything extra.

I do wish Kristin Wigg and Seth Rogen didn't play George Sr and Lucille (1) in the flashbacks. I rather enjoyed them playing themselves in flashbacks like previous seasons.

I was also hoping for a little more Ahn Young and maybe one scene w/ the banana stand.

Also, what were they saying in that Indian-y sounding chant from time to time. Was it "Coincidence" or "Insolence".

"Coincidence." It's a Huckleberry Finn reference.

I kind of assumed it was someone from the church, and that what GOB thought was a "t" for Tony Wonder wedged in there was actually a cross.

It was clearly a cross, but whoever put it there must have had a reason to.

That's what I thought at first but it doesn't seem like Bland's style. Also, if she had the foresight of what was about to happen, and sabotaging the rock was her revenge, then I think she wouldn't have gotten in bed with Tony Wonder.

The creator of AD did an AMA on reddit. Someone pointed out there's a joke behind the name George Maharis.

I enjoyed the season overall. I'm definitely planning on watching another time or two so I can get some jokes earlier on that might make more sense having watch it through once...plus I was pretty drunk by the time I got to the end the first time

Quote :
"Ultimately, this 'Arrested' revival plays a bit like a reunion special, where the individual cast members come out and take their curtain calls. After the warmth of seeing them reunited (or semi-reunited, given how rarely more than one or two are featured in a scene together), there’s a sort of awkwardness to it, as if nobody really has much to say. We’re meant to bask in the nostalgia, while the particulars are of relatively little consequence."

Quote :
"Arrested Development has lost a step or two in its long stint on the sidelines. The pacing is notably slower than during its original run and the show lacks the breathtaking density that characterized its glorious past. At its worst, the new/old Arrested Development is reduced to doing a shaky imitation of itself: the characters and themes are there but the beats are slightly off, as is the tone."

it wasn't as good as season 2, but no show is ever as good as it is in season 2.

i loved the season, and what i loved most about it is how absurdly high the replay value is. it's through the damn roof there's so much shit to notice.

Just watched through the new episodes again. I enjoyed it much more after giving it some time.

Also, knowing the full story arc makes each individual episode more enjoyable. They designed this to be perfect for the typical netflix marathon viewer.

this is kinda cool:

Quote :
"You may know Emmy-award winning actor Tony Hale as Buster Bluth on Arrested Development, or as Gary Walsh, the Veep’s personal aide. Less well known but equally important roles include children’s book author and brother. Hale is the brother of Kim Andreaus, the field placement supervisor for the NC State Department of Social Work‘s MSW program.

It is in the dual roles as author and brother that Tony Hale will visit NC State’s Hunt Library Saturday, Nov. 8, to read from his new children’s book, Archibald’s Next Big Thing, and to draw parallels between the book, his acting career and the field of social work.

“I invited Tony to come because of the connections we saw between his work and mine,” Andreaus says. “As an actor, my brother is always looking for the next big thing. Now he’s written a book — a pretty funny book about a partially bald chicken — that’s helping children think about their lives as great adventures.

“That’s what we do as social workers, too. We teach our students — and they in turn teach their clients — about self-worth, self-determination and self-care. We train students to help people be present and mindful in what they do, and to be true to themselves. These concepts are huge components of our training and practice.”

Andreaus says her brother was more than willing to come share his perspectives with aspiring social workers, other NC State students and others in the community.

“My brother is not exactly shy,” she laughs. “Give him a stage and a microphone, and he’s a happy guy.”

Hale drew from his own experiences to write the children’s book.

“The thoughts of an actor aren’t very different from Archibald’s,” he says. “I always find myself looking ahead to the next big role, the next big opportunity, obsessed with the question, ‘What’s next?’ Embracing and enjoying the present is a message I want both my daughter and myself to remember every single day.”

The event is sponsored by NC State’s Department of Social Work and Quail Ridge Books & Music.

Order tickets to attend the 7 p.m. event and/or the 6 p.m. VIP reception. The cost for the event is $5 for students, $10 for all others. Tickets for the VIP reception are $30. Proceeds from all ticket sales will benefit the NC State Social Work Enhancement Fund, held by the NC State Foundation Inc.

Books are available for pre-sale on the ticketing website and will be available for sale at the event."

^exactly, apparently the remix changes from each episode focusing on a specific character to a chronological telling of events, with new Ron Howard narration.

I'm cautiously optimistic about it.

I liked season 4 after I got over it being different. Michael and George/Oscar's stories are bleh but Tobias, Gob, Buster, Maybe, and George Michael were all great.

I use "At least that way you'll have it" whenever I can in casual conversation.

Watched a few episodes of the remix...not as good as the way they did it the first time, but I think that's because the episodes weren't written to be watched this way. And they still don't entirely tell the story chronologically, so it's just in a weird in-between state.
