I'm curious as to what electronic acts they would have this year...

I've heard three of what I assume will be six acts for the main stage. Malkmus isn't one of the three, but would make sense as a third on one of the nights.

^Yeah, I could see Malk opening for one of the main headliners. Like Big Local Band>Malkmus>Main Headliner on Saturday. That'd make sense.

I hope a big local band doesn't break up before the fest again.

We all know how that went down.

I saw Floostradamus a few years back at Duke University opening up for Ghostland Observatory and they were fairly rad. Looking forward to their set @ Hopscotch2012

Some other local dude playing whose name is out there, but I've since forgotten it.

Good post.

Just checked out Flosstradamus today since that announcement, pretty good shit. I'm sure that show will be a lot of fun.

Yeah, it would be good if I were 21-ish and went to Duke or something. Otherwise, I'm not buying it...

Deer Tick, Heartless Bastards.
'bout 90-ish some percent certain on both.

Alright, now we're getting somewhere. First positive I've heard, so let's see how it plays out.

Also, I don't hate Deer Tick, but dude's voice cannot be tolerated past like 1-2 songs.

Dirty Projectors I could see. I also posted a video of this chick Emily Wells in Music 2012, and I could see her coming down as well. I think they do a lot of "up and comings" for Hopscotch, it feels like...

I wonder if Wilco is the main headliner since they seemed to be booked last year before backing out last-minute, leading Hopscotch to The Flaming Lips. I'd be happy with that despite how unsurprising it'd be.

I'd like to say I really hope not, but I'm not sure that City Plaza shows even matter at this point...

Way, way into these Matthew E. White tracks Hopscotch posted yesterday, especially "Brazos." I'd never heard of that guy before yesterday (although I have heard of Fight the Big Bull and went to one of those Sounds of the South shows in Durham a year or two ago), it's awesome stuff. That show will probably be epic.

Wouldn't be too surprised if Tame Impala got a city plaza spot, or at least are on the list.

would love to know how much of their budget went towards The Roots

was hoping for Wye Oak

using a bunch of local bands as crutches

still not as good of a lineup as the first one

stoked regardless

Yeah, the undercard sure makes it look like they blew the entire budget on the Roots. I don't get expanding it to 175 bands if this was going to be the result. Should still be a good time, though.

I've heard of like ten bands after line 5.

It's still a decent lineup, especially for Raleigh. That being said, I'm not particularly sad that this coincides with me being super duper broke and unable to buy a pair of VIPs.

even though I've seen them a trillion times I am a bit sad that Future Islands aren't a part of it this year

was hoping it was going to be a "we're going to play it every year no matter what" type of deal

especially odd considering their bros Wye Oak and Dan Deacon are playing it
