This was pleasing to watch. Others have said it, but I want to reiterate: we finally looked like we had a goddamn plan and knew how to execute. Nobody looked totally lost, nobody was out of control.

I realize that most teams are this way, but the lack of discipline last year started to seem normal, and this is a breath of fresh air. I still think after two games we look like we'll be playing spoiler this year rather than dancing, but I finally feel like I'm allowed to be hopeful for the future of the BB team.

If we can stay healthy, we might even squeak our way into the dance, as this year's ACC is crazy weak.

He lead his entire conference last year in three pointers made. 36% from behind the arc isn't bad at all. Wood is only at 41%.

^he made more 3s than wood last year, and wood was tied for third in the ACC.

welcome back pack. maybe the curse of jimmy V is being lifted

don't know if you guys have seen the wral post-game interviews but Painter lets slip what we've been hearing all too often now about Lowe which was how much harder practices are, and how hard they go in practice, and how much the coaches and players are on each other's asses, especially his, to step up.

no wonder we saw all this clown-shoes shit and guys trying to win on talent alone.

^ im with you

hell of a stat line: DeShawn Painter finished 6-of-6 from the floor and 7-of-7 from the free-throw line for 19 points.

wow lowe. really? i guess we were all dumb enough to think he had jimmy v's practices and strategies 100% memorized and would implement them here. sounds like the opposite.

I'm not saying this isn't true, but players on teams that didn't do well the season before always say this at the beginning of the season. Our guys were saying it at the beginning of last year. And the year before. Hopefully this time it's true.

^ i would agree with that, except, a lot of players are saying it. The way Painter talks about it is that they ask him about conditioning and that he doesn't look winded at all, so he's just explaining it.

guys were saying they went from basically no game structure to something planned, from no drills in practice, and no weight room workouts to doing it multiple times a day?

just interested in a link or source on that. i'll believe you, but just want to see a source of something that crazy like they are saying this year

I'm not saying they said exactly that. But many of them were talking about how much harder they were being worked, how hard they were practicing, how much more time they were spending in the gym, etc. etc. It's player talk. But I am inclined to think that there may be more truth to it this year.

i never said they said 'exactly that' i just asked for just 1 single link to show that they made some huge effort to increase practice efficiency, team chemistry, hanging out together more, going to gym 100x more etc....

thats all. no hate. i like lowe. always will. great player, awesome recruiter, even a decent coach. just had some flaws that look like are being corrected this year.

Hahaha yeah, I know Herb put together a lot of streaks of at least two games where we looked like a real team. Granted our strategy involved playing shitty, boring basketball, but we were going about it as a team.

You guys dont have to like Lobo and that's fine. But I'm probably going to continue calling him that.

Beyond that, I know more about basketball than anyone on this messageboard so the whole "you dont get it" thing isn't going to work.

We've got people in here calling Johnson someone "we will be talking about for years". He's basically Degand. No we will not.

Hodge is someone we will be talking about for years. This guy is not even an impact player. But I hope he does well, we really need a steady ballhandler if he can make shots.

^^ one person, izzykareem, said that he will be remembered for years. So don't act like the entire TWW is saying that... The rest of the posts were talking about how well he was doing and that his shooting will improve, while backing it up with stats from last year.

You, on the other hand, back your arguments up with "I'm the smartest poster on TWW when it comes to basketball, herp derp".

Johnson is a better passer than Degand, a better outside shooter, and much more quick and athletic

I could tell all that from watching the last 8 minutes of the game yesterday

Bethel was a far more talented player than Johnson would ever hope to be. Sucks that he was sick/injured so much... Bethel was a starting PG in the Big East as a freshman. Johnson played for Cal-State Bakersfield.

** for what it's worth I'd probably say face does know more about basketball than most if not all of the people on here, but he tends to also ignore human aspects of the game and rely too much on efficiency and rate statistics.

And that Lobo/Lobe's shit is fucking garbage. Please stop it...please.

Not really to be perfectly honest. AJ's style before coming here was a point guard who looked to score more often than a traditional point guard. You can see that in him through two games this season.

Johnson looks a more in control than Farnold did most of the time. And Johnson doesn't seem to be as prone to make bone-headed decisions. Of course, it's still early.

yea i said i think we'll talk about him for years, I don't mean 20 years, nor did i say anything about his ass winning the Naismith Award or even being honorable mention All-ACC.

I just think we'll do well this year, we're gonna look back on it, and this guy is gonna be a big reason, i think he's going to be a major contributor and he's gonna get our ass out of some sticky spots in games. Not sure what Farnold Degand you guys are talking about but if you're talking about the 100mph turnover machine, then ok, yea, him.
