That little behind-the-back backheel to keep the ball inbounds from Balotelli was pretty nifty.

Italy looked much stronger than I expected, their long ball is very good. There was surprisingly less flopping during that game than I thought there would be too.

Not the prettiest game but this has been exciting stuff so far. Hard not to root for the Irish.

I'd love to see how they'd respond to an Ochocinco/TO type over there.

I agree. I think that's a very likable Italy team. There's nobody really bitchy and Balotelli is always a fun player to watch. And of course Pirlo is the fucking man.

Is there an uglier player in this tournament than Ribery? I vote no.

Lescott, only because Ribery has half an excuse.

Quote :
"When he was two years old, he and his family were involved in a car accident in his hometown, colliding with a truck.[5] Ribéry suffered serious facial injuries that resulted in over one hundred stitches and left two long scars down the right side of his face."

Ribery with as much possession as england this half. Sitting back far too much to end the half.

^^^ I wouldn't go that far. Lately we've struggled with Canada and frickin' Antigua.

I've been to Antigua. Cricket is bigger there than soccer.

He means play defensive the entire game and make it close with a set piece or two. That's the USA's bread and butter.

We did the same thing less than a year ago against this same French team and only lost 1-0. It's not like England's goal came off anything we couldn't do ourselves.

Yeah, Alexi has a very punchable face. The stupid shit that comes out of it doesn't help either.

England played completely not to lose after they gave up the equalizer. I really would have liked to have seen some attempt at offense after the 80th minute at least. Sub in Walcott earlier and at least apply some forward pressure and give yourself a chance to steal a win.

Nice that they got a point, but they need to show more push up the field in their next two games. Honestly, i think they need to get a win against Sweden because they don't want to be up against it facing the Ukraine in their 3rd match.

It wasn't even funny. Just Lalas being an idiot like usual. Ballack was commenting that he was disappointed in the game and that even though England had solid defense it was boring and football shouldn't be played that way. Lalas was like "COME OOOOONNNN! WE CAN'T ALL BE GERMANS!!!" and Ballack just looked at him with a cold stare and said "Germany has nothing to do with this."
