Why do we insist on giving up wide open threes every game?

These are college players. A wide open 3 is just as good of a shot as a contested layup (if not better).

What the fuck has to happen before someone says "well this whole not guarding the 3 pointer the last 5 seasons doesn't seem to be paying dividends, maybe we should try something else"

Who cares if you get beat for a few layups now and again. Pressure fucking defense, force turnovers, force bad shots. You can't play effective defense any other way unless you have really heady players (unathletic white guys)
