I don't know. I don't get it, but who cares. I've never played MLB and I'm not initiated in the culture like Rat Soup thinks he is.

oh yeah, that's TOTALLY it, man. never caught any conversation on this kind of crap during game commentary or baseball tonight or anything. but put downs are cool when you have nothing to contribute, i guess.

I've heard other people talk about it, too. That's hardly enough to form a rock solid opinion of my own. You're just regurgitating some shit from somewhere else and wondering how dissenting opinions exist.

who the fuck cares? He didn't put a knife in his back. He hit him with a baseball. And then the Nats hit Hamels later. This isn't new.

what does BHs age have to do with anything? it's not like he's a frail 5'10" and 150 lbs... dude is built like a strong safety.

self righteous. for clarifying an argument i was making to someone who didn't get what i was saying. got it.

Quote :

because it's stupid, childish behavior and the pitcher doesn't know how the batter is going to move ahead of time, and it could result in something like a broken wrist? i don't know.

just sounds worse i guess, even though i think it's stupid to do to someone at any age like i've said

If you read the whole story it doesn't come across as ill-will from Hamels in any major way...in fact he talks about how he respects the Nats organization and thinks it could be a great rivalry for baseball.

Consistent with his comments or not, my opinion would be that he probably feels Harper is too comfortable at the plate, and just wanted to remind him that getting his with a big league fastball is always a possibility, and he might want to start considering that, if he hadn't already been

Beanballs and high and tight pitches aren't always emotional, there's more than a bit of strategy behind them more often then not. Those days are waning, but not gone.

Can we all just agree that Hamels was a dumbass to admit it instead of just smirking and saying "That one got away from me."? There's no definitive way to prove the intent unless he says something, and now he'll probably miss a start as a result. Smooth operating, Cole.

Yeah it was pretty dumbass of him to admit that, in fact by admitting it he broke another of those sacred unwritten rules that he is so adamantly trying to uphold. I doubt he'll miss a start though...he'll get a 5 game suspension which will get him pushed back a day or two maybe

5 games = missing a start for all intents, since it forces them to call someone up or have someone else go on short rest. More of a pain in the ass for the front office than anything else.

If people shouldn't throw at Harper because he is 19, anyone that throws at Jamie Moyer should be permanently banned from baseball.

he got a 5 game suspension and a stupidity fine. i think openly admitting you intentionally plunked a guy should warrant a bigger suspension than the same punishment for something that LOOKS intentional without admitting it. should've had to miss 2 starts in my opinion.

^ i've walked from the stadium to the waterfront station to avoid the crowd before. seemed like most of the initial mob passed by in the time it took to walk there. but this was when the rockies were in town last year, so it may not have help when the phillies are here. also idk if i'd do it at night.

I've done that twice, but then it's still a pain to squeeze into an already-full train lol

and yeah, that area is off limits at night, it's like I Am Legend over there

hey guys, lets miss the best part of the game so we can beat traffic, even though thousands of other people have the same idea, and will cause even more traffic than if we just hang out

i used to fucking hate it if i went to a Hornets game with a friend and their parents and they're like "ooh 6 minutes left in the 4th, tie game, lets leave"

first (4) earned runs of the season: May 9th

first save of the season (4th of career): May 8th

having a 54.00 ERA in your 2nd save situation appearance? Priceless

[Edited on May 10, 2012 at 12:38 AM. Reason : 54 not 36, he only last 2/3 of an inning]

There was a trade rumor circulating on Philly sports radio this morning...

Cole Hamels fore Josh Hamilton

Straight up. Both in the final years of their contracts. Apparently the teams have been in contact informally.

As a Philly fan, I don't know how I feel about it.

I saw on twitter a fan said to trade Dillon Gee for Hamilton and Andrus. Not sure how I feel giving up a home grown guy....

Is just as relevant a post.

"Washington Nationals superstar rookie Bryce Harper is often described as playing the game at full-speed with top-notch intensity at all times. On Friday night, he injured himself during a game in Cincinnati when he took out his frustrations in the clubhouse. While the Nationals' offense broke out against the Reds, the leftfielder was 0 for 5 at the plate and apparently slammed a bat into a wall in anger. The bat promptly retaliated by ricocheting off the wall and catching him in the head."
