Doubtful; the NHL doesn't tally scoring chances officially, and it's such a subjective stat it's only really a good thing to put on a TV intermission graphic.

Supposedly people who track chances have a fairly consistent set of criteria. Hits seem to be judged on the standard of how frisky the homer tracking them is feeling on a particular day.

I'm in Slovenia, and the other day me and the person I was with were waiting at a bus stop next to some houses. There were some people in one of the yards and they ended up asking if we wanted to play volleyball, and we obliged. Turns out one of the guys was classmates with Anze Kopitar. We live in a bizzaro universe where everyone is touting the Devils offense in contrast to the Rangers defense.

I think this basically comes down to a goalie dual and which coach has a better strategy. Either way, I'm impressed with what the Devils have accomplished and hope that it's enough to entice Captain Zach to stick around!

And I get (or at least I think I do) what he's trying to do. It'll make it easier for his players to recover and focus on their game, without having the distraction of what the media is portraying from the post-game interview. The focus is primarily on Tortorella now, instead of Gaborik being benched, etc.

But it's a tireless act. As a whole, the rest of the coaches in the league respect the press, and if they don't want to feed the media, they'll at least give "coachspeak". Tortorella is just plain disrespectful.

What exactly does he owe the media? I'm not being a homer here, I feel the same way every time a coach or player of any team shows "disrespect." I really don't care what happens in the interviews and press conferences, only what happens on the ice/field/court.

My favorite example was when Chad Pennington told the media it was their PRIVILEGE to cover the Jets and not their right.
